I need to overhaul my skincare routine

Or just develop a skincare routine.

I’m 40 in December and I’m really starting to look it. I feel my skin looks congested and dull.

Can I have recommendations for slightly oily skin? I usually just use whatever is cheap in boots but i can throw some money at the issue.

Please don’t recommend The Ordinary or any acids - years of steroid cream means the skin on my face has thinned and is very sensitive.

Oooo, a fellow 40-in-December 😀

I've been using Waitrose's hydration range lately, the hot cloth cleanser is a super alternative to Liz Earle's (plus it's on 2 for £5 sometimes, so easy on the purse).

I would recommend dermalogica pre cleanse, skin cleansing gel, daily micro exfoliant and active moist moisturiser for oily/combination skin. If you have dry bits you will need to use different products on your dry areas.

scotinoz when are you 40? I’m on 29th December!

I don’t have a Waitrose unfortunately- I live in Ireland. I’ve considered actual Liz Earle.

reachforthewine I actually love the precleanse but haven’t used any other Dermatologica products. I don’t really have dry areas. Oily mostly but my cheeks are more ordinary.

The ones I've mentioned above will be good for your skin type.

I prefer skin prep scrub to daily microexfoliant, my skin is glowing after I use it.

I've never really had a routine as such but lately my skin is looking older so I'm making more of an effort. I bought a face cleanser by Bentley organics (Tesco sell it I think) and it's mostly natural ingredients and feels lovely. Am following that with the Aldi lacura moisturisers (day and night) for my age group (30s-40s) and my skin is responding well so far. I have combination so oily areas but also lots of dryness but the cleanser is for all skin types. Smells lovely too Smile

If you’ve got thin skin from steroids I’d avoid anything gritty on the skin.

I have oily skin too and cleanse with grape seed oil with vitamin e, you can get it from massage supplies companies and it has antioxidant properties.

Just cleansing well will improve the skin no end.

I’ve got an led face mask, the red setting encourages collagen and elastin production. My skins a lot firmer since I had it at Christmas. There’s a blue setting to kill acne bacteria and green for reducing excess pigmentation. There’s some with 7 colours for dullness etc.

Does anyone use anything from Elamis? I like the sound of the pro-collagen range.
