Are Boden men’s shorts middle aged?

I was thinking of getting dh a pair (mid 30s, I like to think of us as youngish!) but looking at them online the cut seems a bit baggier and edging towards middle aged- I think of nice chino shorts as more of a straight/slim fit. Dh is active and a healthy weight if relevant.
Alternatively do they have any decent men’s trousers? Need to be good quality, dh is death to trousers.

Obviously, I don't know the shorts in question but I have to say that Boden is pretty much the essence of middle aged (maybe early middle aged if that helps...) so it would hardly be surprising.

DH is early 60s and refuses to wear the pair I bought for him.

😬 ok then!

Not a chance my DH (46) would wear Boden shorts.

So where would you buy shorts? Zara? I’m not paying for anything more expensive for shorts for dh, he destroys everything he owns which is why he needs more.

If he's the sort of man who's happy for his wife to choose his clothes, will he really care if his shorts are a bit traditional? Go for quality over style.

Gap? FatFace? There are loads of high street stores that sell men's chino shorts, they all look pretty much the same to me. Why are the Boden ones so different?

Try H&M. If you sign up for their club thing (free) you get free delivery. Cheap and cheerful but a bit younger than boden.

Dh gets his in top shop or ASOS. He's over 40 but needs a skinny fit

Thanks all. Will buy somewhere else. I thought Boden because I buy my toddler clothes there and find them tougher than anywhere else eg Zara, gap Grin. I obviously wasn’t planning on telling dh that.
shatners I go through phases - he’s not much of a shopper but doesn’t have a lot of clothes so it feels nice to buy him some sometimes... but then he is so hard on them partly through an inability to treat things well that I regret it and resolve not to buy him any more...

Primark (yes really) do lovely Chino & linen men's shorts.

Ellapaella · 25/05/2018 20:30

Sorry op I meant why would Boden ones be considered anymore middle age than chino shorts from top shop or elsewhere? They all look pretty much the same. Personally I'm a fan of Boden shorts (and I'm not middle aged yet not that that matters really) and think the quality is far superior to H & M. And they have 25% off right now so I would go for it if I were you.
