Face cream with night spf

Hi, I'm a newbie to makeup and only started trying to use it recently, so looking for advice please!
I have very large pores and oily skin and have started trying to cleanse and exfoliate before moisturising and make up.
I'm looking for a high spf face cream that is oil free and will not clog my pores or make my face shiny.
Any recommendations would be good please (and any for good make up application to cover large pores too!)

I don’t think an spf in a cream will be effective for anti aging. You’re better off with a proper sunblock.

Do you really exfoliate every Night? Isn’t that a bit much?.

I've just brought no7 advanced spf 50 with the serum added, fabulous reviews online and it's also 2 for £20 on suncare.

This is the one! I'm so impressed with it! I wore it alone last week I was in the sun for 6 hrs and I didn't have a hint of sunburn!

The difference between a SPF 30and a SPF 50 wrt protection is only about 1% ?
The SPF also requires you to be quite dedicated in application - a cream is better than a spray and needs to be regularly and properly applied and so I wouldn’t rate one that is included in a sun cream/foundation.

Whyme what's the consistency of that cream like? Is it like sun cream, or more like moisturiser? (If that makes sense.) What's it like to apply makeup over it?

I use these two, everything else blocks my pores:

Nip and fab pos glycolic fix spf 30

Origins ginzing tinted moisturiser spf 40

For the pores I use a salicylic acid 2% overnight, doesn’t matter where from I find.

Try the ordinary niacinamide and zinc under the moisturiser to reduce oil production.

I have narky skin and love Etude House sunprise mild airy finish spf50, no pore blocking issues and a good make up base too.

I use la Roche posay spf 30. It is mattifying and seems to sink in well

I use la Roche posay anthelios on top of moisturiser. Love the consistency and it makes a great base for makeup.

I exfoliate every morning, not sure if that is too often? I just felt recently that I wanted to try make up (something for myself rather than chasing after the kids) so not really sure!

I found that normal sun cream makes my eyes sting and water all day and my face shines and is terribly oily. I tried a face sun cream which was no irritation but still oily and makes me look terrible.

So face moisturiser with spf was great but I could only see low spf ratings, with the weather getting hot I wanted something with more protection that my make up would not just melt off.

What are you using to exfoliate? Every morning does sound a bit too often.

There are loads of high spf moisturisers out there - Clarins do a 40spf one, or you could try Clinique City Block. If a shiny face is your problem then you could try a gel formulation SPF instead - I find Ultrasun sports gel is pretty good for that.

I second the no.7 brand. I have the spf 30. Only got it this week but haven't had any blocked pores or oilyness from it. Not tried it under make up yet but it does say on the box that it is suitable to use under make up.

Tell us what your routine is, what products you are currently using, and someone will advise you on what you could try. There are good products at all price points - are you on a budget or splashing out a bit?

I know everyone says a 15 spf in a moisturiser is no good but I've been using one for decades and my skin does look better than many of my peers. I don't spend much time outdoors though.

Re large pores - the nip and fab pads have been amazing for me. I rotate them and use one each morning about tens mins before I shower (I don't do a nighttime cleanse, but don't wear makeup in the day).

For large pores I’ve found using The Ordinary retinoid serum twice a week at night, along with the niacinimide serum every day I don’t use the peel has made my skin near-perfect. And it was horrendous to start with! Barely a pore now and no redness/spots.

I use La Roche suncream as well. It’s lovely, not too heavy or oily.

If you can get to Poundland they do a facial sunblock in 30 and 50 it's a known make but it's not a normal size. It's small enough to fit easily into a handbag.

I use a charcoal scrub in the shower (one I found in B&M) and then a Simple light moisturiser with spf 15. The. If I have time I do make up over it.

I was using a Simple moisturising face wash, but switched to scrub as I read it might help with oily skin but just assumed you would use it everyday!

Have you looked at Caroline hirons cleansing advice?

web md says you cant shrink pores, but washing your face may make them look smaller. perhaps less muck and messing about would help?

dermatologists say that the amount of spf in face creams is minimal. buy a proper sport sunscreen.

Stop scrubbing your face. Use acids instead. And get oils in your routine. It will stop your face having to produce so much. And yy, get on Caroline Hirons' website. Total face saver.

I found it pretty impossible to get a decent moisturiser with high spf that wasn't full of silicones (which I try to avoid)

So now I use seperate spf and moisturiser.

@TheGoatSaysHello do you mean the no7 one I mentioned, I'f so it is definitely suncream texture nothing like day moisturisers with spf that I've tried in the past.

Btw! Nip+fab pads for the WIN! I've used the daily glycolic pads for around 6months! Totally transformed my skin! Also if you buy online on nip +fabs own site they have a amazing sale, atm all the glycolic range is 50% off and the dragons bloody are £5!!! I've tryed the nip +fab glycolic moisturiser but I wasn't impressed, my face burnt terrible last week hence why I've changed to No7.
