Need help to make grey cover up easy and more effective

Sorry about long winded title!

I'm in my 30's, and have lots of grey which I've been dying warm dark brown for years (original colour). I now have developed an impressive grey streak right at the front of my head. As I've been home dying my hair every 3 months or so, I've been letting the salt and pepper in my hair show, and covering up the streak at the front with powder after each wash. It looks a mess.

I'm tired of this, but don't feel I'm ready to embrace the grey streak (about size of a 2 pence piece).

I have this idea that if I get the streak highlighted, with some other highlights around my head that the grey streak would blend in so much better, especially if I could then find a conditioner/regular use toner (honey/caramel?) that would colour the highlights each time I wash it. Obviously it wouldn't cover my dark brown hair, which would be my preference anyway.

Can anyone advise me as to whether this would work?? Is there such a product out there that would do this? I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the product options when I google them!

Thanks so much in advance!
