I have fairly thick, fairly straight long hair and have decided I want beachy, casual waves for summer :) what's the least labour intensive way of achieving this bearing in mind I have two children under 4 to get out the house by 7.30 every day!

A few plaits the night before depending on how thick your hair is!

And a salt spray!

Raven88 · 23/05/2018 21:35

Sea salt spray and air dry or do some small buns and leave it in to dry.

Does salt spray really work then?! I want this sort of look...

Tony and Guy deep barrel waver.

It's a bit like a massive crimper. Just one wave in each section. It's brilliant and totally easy.

Salt spray and then plait it and leave it to dry. Cheap and easy!

mookinsx · 23/05/2018 21:41

Plaits over night and then sea salt spray - trail a few cheaper sprays
I found some made my hair sticky and go greasy quickly so had to wash again after a few hours
But found two that worked well for me

Another recommendation for the Toni and Guy deep barrel waver. I've had my eye on it for a while and it's only £25 on Amazon at the moment, I've only been using it for a few days and it's brilliant, so quick and easy to use - my husband actually noticed my hair was different and said he really liked it.

I have thick hair and the waves really last, and are still in good shape the following morning.

How quick to use MadisonAvenue? How long is your hair?

MessyBun247 · 23/05/2018 21:55

Love your username Op 😂 watching this thread with interest!

messybun · 23/05/2018 21:58

Styler thing looks good. Just read reviews on Amazon and some say the waves lasts couple of days which would be ideal

Following but having poker straight hair, I'm probably a lost cause.
I suspect that photo and all photos like that proclaiming to give effortless beachy hair, is hair that's been styled for several hours lol.

messybun · 23/05/2018 22:10

I suspect your right Raven but I'm choosing to ignore that fact and believe that I can achieve that look in 5 mins, at home, by myself, whilst trying to get suncream on two squirmy dd's Smile

Two French plaits the night before

MadisonAvenue · 23/05/2018 22:47

Fasting Not much more than 5 minutes. My hair is just past shoulder length and I was taking quite large sections at a time.

I'd tried the Paul Stafford bubble wand or whatever it's called before and returned it, the only thing I achieved with it was a big frizzy mess.
