I love Kat Von D bullet lipsticks, No7 liquid eyeliners, I heart Revolution mermaid range and NYX lid lingerie.

I really like bold, sparkly coloured eyeshadows and bright purple & red sparkly lipsticks/lip paint.

I have long red henna hair and pale skin, blue/green eyes. I am 47, but believe that I can still wear bold colours & shimmers if I want to. My skin is relatively wrinkle free.

What makeup would you recommend for me?

For pigment and sparkle you can't beat Urban Decay IMO.

This is still available in the U.K. www.urbandecay.co.uk/en_GB/make-up-palettes/moondust/ud773.html#start=17&cgid=makeup-palettes

But if you can get hold of it I think this is even better. It sold out in the U.K. before Christmas but I saw it available at Dublin airport yesterday if you know anyone travelling that way. It's called Heavy Metals.

Thanks Loonoon I love the colours on the left, not sure I would use the ones on the right. I love bold Grin

If you love bold look up Morphe palettes online. My make up addict (don't know who she gets that from!) daughter swears by them and the colour range is extraordinary.

Oswin · 23/05/2018 17:43

If you like bold the morphe 35b pallete would be good. Its ridiculously pigmented. Ill try find a pic of a few colours.

clairethewitch70 · 23/05/2018 19:28

My ds' girlfriend loves Morphe, but hers was the usual brown shades.

Just goggled the 35b and yes, that Morphe palette looks great, thanks both.

Any liquid eyeliner suggestions?

My all time favourite has been discontinued - No7 Mermaid as shown on this blog

My other favourite is this one from Lush

and the blue they have discontinued

Nyx do some really colourful eyeliners.

Makeup Revolution Colour Chaos palette. It's been discontinued as they've updated their range, but you can still find it on eBay.

Similar to the Urban Decay Electric Palette, which has also been discontinued. (Although if you can get to Bluewater the House of Fraser there has one left. I cannot, sadly, otherwise I would.)

You can't go wrong with a lot of the makeup revolution ranges. The new pro range has a few colourful palettes that cost only £8.

Can't believe someone recommended morphe... I wouldn't call 1 rainbow pallete in a sea of beige and brown a good colour selcetion.

Check out bh cosmetics. They are available on beauty bay or you can order from the German site. The galaxy chic palette, festival palette and take me back to Brazil palette are all super colourful.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 24/05/2018 03:23

Urban decay do really colourful eyeliner.

clairethewitch70 · 24/05/2018 11:56

Oswin I love the blue & green NYX, thank you.

Also one thing I do a lot is spray a fine eyeliner brush with setting spray and use my eyeshadows as eyeliner.

daftyburd · 24/05/2018 12:38

Both Sugarpill and Makeup Geek do single eyeshadows that can be put in a customisable palette. That way you are not buying shadows you won’t use. Lots of bright colour shadows and sparkly foils.
Limecrime have lots of mermaid highlighters and shadows. Diamond Crusher gloss goes over lipstick to give a twinkly effect. I have Unicorn Blood. Jeffree Star does a lot of very bold lip colours.
Beauty Bay, Love Makeup and a few others all carry those brands. ASOS even stocks Limecrime now.

Has anyone tried this brand - Juvia's Place? What is the pigmentation like?

Phenomenal... can't believe I forgot to say them. I have the magic palette and it's unbelievable.

It's a black owned brand so the shadows are formulated to show up on darker skin.

clairethewitch70 · 24/05/2018 13:09

Formerly I have pale skin with red hair (was naturally blonde before going grey), I wonder if they will suit my skin tone?

OP posts:
clairethewitch70 · 24/05/2018 13:10

The Magic palette looks gorgeous.

I'm very pale (spf 50 everyday) and I make it work. I sometimes find the blues very intense but I just blend them out. They blend really well.

Search juvias place on onstage. Lots of looks on paper skin.
