Sock destruction

This is going to sound weird but...

...does anyone know how to stop socks getting cut to pieces by my toenails?

I always carefully file my toenails short and smooth the edges off so there are no rough/sharp edges but even expensive socks get holes in them after being worn four or five times (holes are always right at end of big and second toenails). Cheap ones rarely survive being worn twice.

Surely the entire population can't have this problem!

Cut your toenails shorter so they match your toe and don't need styling?

I have this problem but more on one foot .. I seem to stick my toe up more as can literally wear through a shoe top too.

Any how, I think I make socks die faster by pushing my shoes on .. not unlacing etc as it pushes the sock tighter so it wears faster against your toe nail.

I go through so many socks. And it looks so horrible with holes, which annoys me as I am always buying new socks.
