Describe your perfect wardrobe in ten items

Reading a bunch of articles listing the "wardrobe essentials" or "timeless classics" needed in every wardrobe. Trench coat, LBD, ballet pumps, red lipstick (?), white shirt/t shirt and leather jacket keep making repeat appearance.

I have little to no fashion sense so my wardrobe is currently full of mismatching crap, so I'm fascinated to hear what people would choose for their perfect wardrobe (in 10 pieces).

Budget no barrier, what would you choose?

I'll note that the only item in my wardrobe that I think is great is my jeans; which are awesome (Levis, super skinny, fit like a glove)

Hmmm tricky... off the top of my head:

1. Black skinny jeans
2. A white shirt
3. A feminine blouse (I have a floaty nude wrap style one that I love)
4. LBD
5. Leather jacket, black
6. A good quality white or grey tshirt
7. Ankle boots - black or tan
8. Ballet flats - perhaps in nude
9. A statement dress or top - something bright in colour block or a pattern

10. A tailored pair of cropped trousers, perhaps in navy

Ten items isn’t many!

ten isn't many but most lists seem to be limited to ten!

Size 10 skinny jeans, dress, skirt, top...plus 6 other random size 10 items, all of which look amazing on and fit me perfectly with a little spare room to allow for a small weight gain.

Sadly I am a 16 and most of my clothes are a bit tight

1. A pair of comfortable black winter trousers.
2. A second pair of comfortable black winter trousers, identical to the first pair.
3. A comfortable pair of linen black summer trousers.
4. A heavy-duty, well-made, v-neck black t-shirt.
5. A heavy-duty, well-made, v-neck black t-shirt, identical to 4).
6. A heavy-duty, well-made, v-neck black t-shirt, identical to 4).
7. A heavy-duty, well-made, v-neck black t-shirt, identical to 4).
8. A random long-sleeved cotton tunic that I can wear when I am attempting to be "summery".
9. A summer cardigan that looks good with black trousers and black t-shirts.
10. A winter cardigan that looks good with black trousers and black t-shirts.

Hmm. Tricky.

No-one really has a ten item wardrobe.

And the things I wear constantly are on a loop.

At the moment it's a pair of 7 For all Mankind jeans (straight leg), silver pointy flats, skater shoes from Jigsaw, silk shirt from Winser London, blazer from APC, silk shift from ALC, denim shirt from Jaeger, and a Sonia Rykiel cardigan.

But it's very mutable.

Oh challenging. This is essentials that really pull things together rather than a capsule.

1. Great wool coat. Navy slightly mannish
2. Good jeans. Well cut, proper denim
3. Stylish waterproof jacket (not a belted trench as they look shit on me)
4. Easy dress - smart enough for office casual enough for weekend with different shoes. Plain neutral colour. Can handle weight gain ie kinda loose
5. Serious meeting dress. Plain modest but flattering.
6. Long cardigan - cut snd colour work over dresses snd pants
7. Good top - short or cap sleeve. Plain colour good fabric
8. Good top - mid or long sleeve. Plain colour good fabric
9. Tailored trousers

10. Semi casual trouser - well cut. In khaki or light grey. Works fir both office and weekend

This assumes i have good make up or i would list at least a bold and a neutral lipstick. Plus assumes shoes otherwise flat knee high boots, ankle boots with small heel, brogues, sandals, snd trainers are essential.

On the usual essentisl list i fibd thise items dont suit me. But replacements that do are classics for me. So no trench but a waterproof thtow on coat with style. No white shirt but a good looking smart top thats plain. No ballet shoes but brogues snd leather trainers.

Assume each of these things is well made and perfectly fitting.

I haven't included shoes etc, but as a minimum, black medium-heeled courts, some kind of short black boots and white trainers or Converse. Various different scarves etc. I didn't include a coat as I think of that as being as basic as knickers - with a wardrobe as basic as this, I'd probably go for a neutral coloured trench.

Out of your list I don't have a trench, ballet pumps, red lipstick, or a white shirt. I only wear a LBD for funerals.

For me I suspect it might be:

5 pairs shoes/boots

I may have my priorities all wrong
