Awful skin- help!

I really need help with my face. I have very oily skin, always prone to spots and scarring. I constantly have little red spots around my hairline and jaw. I am currently in the midst of a terrible breakout of a never ending cluster of spots on my chin. I always wear foundation and I hate the look of my skin so much.

I am 37 and have DCs 2 and 4, my skin now also looks tired and old. My foundation (max factor face finity 3 in 1) used to work really well but now just sits on top of the skin iyswim.

I need help and advice of what treatments and make up can improve my disaster of a face? I feel and look awful and just want to avoid the mirror.

What works? Any miracle cures?? Reasonably priced foundations which make me look flawless??? Please help! 😭

Environ!! I used to have bad skin Til I tried Environ. Go for a facial first then get just the basic AVST1 . Worth it!

I hear you, I can usually keep my acne prone skin under control with strict skincare but it's recently gone to pot.
I ordered this from amazon on Friday, Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay -- 1 lb by Aztec Secret www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00TXCG8YI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AIxaBb8SC8CMJ?tag=mumsnetforum-21 so far I've used it twice and the improvement is brilliant. It's brought lots of little hard lumpy spots to a head then got rid of them. I was brewing a big hard lumpy one that would usually last weeks on my cheek but I can already see it going. My pores are much clearer.
It stinks, you mix it with apple cider vinegar which I also got from amazon but its a huge tub and will last ages. So far I couldn't be happier with it.

Ahh thanks for suggestions! Budget won't stretch to Environ (although perhaps buying a good quality product might be the key!) but will definitely get the Aztec mask. I'm just sick of stupid spotty skin that I daren't ever have bare as it looks so bad. Do you use foundation? What kind works best for you?

Better to try and treat the underlying cause than spend loads of money on skincare products. My DD uses the Aztec mask and it does work temporarily but by reducing the oils on the skin, eventually it will cause your skin to over-produce oil to compensate. Get a referral to a dermo if you can.

I'm struggling with foundation at the moment. Ive tried the body shop one with tea tree after a recommendation on here, the coverage is good, stays well but I'm not sure if it gave me blocked pores or if my skins just rubbish anyway. Boujois healthy skin (or something like that) is also always recommended but doesn't give enough coverage for me. The ordinary coverage (haven't tried serum) is good & only about £6 so I'm sticking with that at the moment. I want to try mac Pro longwear nourishing foundation next. There is a thread with suggestions about 2 pages back on s&b, think a revlon one was also recommended which is on offer in boots at the moment.

Try the ordinary salicylic acid and an led face mask. It prevents acne and boost collagen.

I have very oily skin. As far as foundation/makeup goes, I swear by Urban Decay's De-Slick Primer. It's the only one that keeps me matte all day.

livingontheedgeee Some people just have oily skin, it's often genetic. My mum has oily skin, so do I. I don't think it necessarily means something is wrong. Although I do agree that a derm would be helpful for OP's blemish problems.

If your acne has been and enduring problem and you’ve tried a few things, you might want to go and see your GP. They can give you various antibiotic formulas/mild skin creams which can help. You get to a point with these things where it’s not enough to just try everything at Boots to see, and in fact by doing that you’re probably irritating your already irritated skin.

Personally I’d see your GP, get something which will hopefully clear it up, then start again with the most simple, gentle skincare you can get.

And, sorry to say. You really should lay off the makeup until it clears up. I know from experience it’s hard when you have all that yuk going on on your face, but honestly it’s what your skin needs.

Thanks for all the messages. Been to GO in past and had different creams but not really made much difference. Was hoping the pill would help, but not really. The only thing that has ever given me glowing clear skin is pregnancy and that is not happening!

Had infected spots a few years ago and my whole face was hugely swollen- was on antibiotics for months.

I'd just love to have simple clear skin- it makes such a difference. I know I shouldn't wear make up but cannot bear to show my skin 😷
