Summer dressing my wobbly tum

Can anyone advise how I can dress my post-baby body please? Going on holiday to France in 3 weeks' time and I'm 6 months post-partum ... still have a fairly wobbly tum and carrying more weight than usual on hips, thighs and bizarrely, my arms!

All my usual summer clothes are strappy tops and short dresses so I don't feel very confident in them. Tried on a few maxi skirts and dresses this week and they just seem to cling to the wrongn places and accentuate the stomach area.

Can anyone recommend what shapes I should be looking at? Or particular shops? It will be high 20s and sunny on holiday and I would love to look chic and feel cool!

What shape are you? Apple or pear? Big bust? Small bust? What's your fave body part?

Diorissimo1985 · 17/05/2018 10:29

Definite pear - medium bust but still breast feeding so need to think about that too with summer clothes. Only 5ft4 with short legs.
Favourite body part used to be my bum but it seems to have gone missing post-pregnancy. Waist is actually okay but still have protruding tummy... hard brief I know!!

I love a 50s swing dress for skimming over tum and hips.

Oh and I'm about size 12 at the moment, about 2 sizes bigger than pre pregnancy

Hi OP - someone on here recommended the Facebook group “Can I breastfeed in it” which has been fab for me for finding nice clothes that are bf friendly, and as loads of the ladies are keen on disguising a pp belly there are loads of ideas on there that would fit your brief (which is similar to mine)

Thanks Ladygaggia - I quite like the shape but wouldn't want my arms on show with the thin straps.
Also my usual style is more subtle - usual shops are Zara, Sezanne, Whistles so not sure about the print.
Thank you though!

I'm your shape op , carrying a little baby weight (6 months pp) and I wear short sleeved tea dresses. Asos have a range called the ultimate tea dress and I own a few old topshop ones too.

Zara has lots of nice options in at the moment - shift dresses without sleeve would work with a nice light blazer or small cardigan. For dresses that skim over a belly opt for skater dresses with sleeves. You could also try a shirt dress? Often with 3/4 sleeves, very casual summery chic, on trend, lots of styles, light and airy, not clingy to any parts you won't want to show, but you can add a little belt to give a bit more shape at your waist.

The yellow picture attached is more of a shift dress they have, would look lovely with a brown over the shoulder bag, brown sandals and sunnies! Even a brown cord belt if you wanted more shape to it.

The black is a play on a shirt dress, glammed up. It would look lovely in daytime again with brown accessories or in the evening with some nice jewellery and heels. You can find much more casual shirt dresses that go well with flats too.

Definitely look through their site, they've lots of linen cool dresses which still cover you in the places you sound like you'd want covered :)
