Smart casual - what jacket?

I've got an awards thing tonight which is meant to be smart casual and I was going to wear a smart dress & heels with a casual cropped denim jacket but my dh says the denim is too casual but men can wear denim jeans and a blazer for smart casual so I now don't know what to wear as I've only got blazers which would make it too smart. Help!

If it suits it, opt for a leather jacket perhaps? Soft long leather, especially in brown, jackets add a fierce but glam touch to any smart outfit! I agree with not going for a smart office blazer, but have you got a soft material casual blazer? That would work :)

I have just been told not to worry about a jacket as it's boiling in there anyway so I'll just take a leather jacket and leave it in the cloak room 😂 panic averted 😉
