I have an appointment tomorrow with the John Lewis personal shopper. Have any of you got any tips of what information I should give etc to get the most out of if. I'm really looking for a couple of different outfits for Summer. It needs to be practical (2 young children) and not what I always wear! Should I take photos of my normal outfits for her? Lists of likes/dislikes? Shops I currently shop in? Or am I overthinking this whole process?!

I did this and would recommend you go with an open mind about what they put you in. They don't work on commission so have no vested interest in trying to sell you things that don't suit you. It's about getting someone else's opinion of what looks good so I would just turn up and go with it, rather than trying to direct the appointment.

Watching with interest as I’ve also got an appointment booked.

I did this quite a few years ago & they gave me some stuff I wouldn't have tried but really liked.

Be honest & say what you're after but you're happy to look at a few other things they'd recommend even if you need to come back another time to buy. There was no pressure for me though I was quite anxious beforehand. Definitely tell them about likes & dislikes but be open & put yourself in their hands. Above all, enjoy it!

How did you get on OP?

It was really good, thanks. I tried things that I would never normally pick up. The stylist was honest and said what worked and didn't. I ended up getting a dress, 2 tops and 2 trousers. Would definitely do it again in the autumn.
