Lightening dyed hair (at home)

I’ve used dark brown semi permanents for a while but roots are now coming through (natural colour is more mid-brown with the odd grey). Can I put a mid brown colour on to bring it all back to that more natural colour or will it not work on top of the majority of hair that is darker?!

Use a colour stripper like colour b4. Your hair will then be a lovely shade of orange. Then put a light or mid ash brown colour on it. Id probably use light ask brown as they always come out darker. You cant lighten your hair with a box dye.

Use colour b4, but you'll have to wait a week until you can put a permanent dye over it.

If you don't like ginger you can cover it in the meantime with a semi permanent sold in Superdrug.
