What would you wear to this interview

Internal candidate going for a promotion. The email says to wear semi casual clothing (no ripped jeans). Current uniform is very causal (think jeans and a work shirt).

It’s a group interview so want to stand out. Trousers tend to be a no go as haven’t found a flattering pair (besides my high waisted jeans).

Semi casual would indicate "smart but no suit". I would wear something like a nice dress and cardigan with flat shoes.

Or a nice pair of capri pants with a good shirt or top plus cardigan if the outfit needed it.

Greenyogagirl · 14/05/2018 01:27

I’d go for dark skinny jeans, a pretty top and a blazer jacket

Wildlingofthewest · 14/05/2018 01:28

High waisted trousers?
Dress with smart shoes?
Skinny high waist trousers or drain pipe leg ones with a nice long length top?

Please don’t wear ballet flats on your feet though - they are so unflattering and everyone wears them!!

Ginkypig · 14/05/2018 02:07

Yep smart shoes or boots. I.e. No trainers or casual sandals.

Smart dark jeans, or some trousers like mentioned above. Or a skirt.
A smart top or shirt that isn't too in your face or with logos etc
You could add a blazer if you think so.

Or a dress with a cardigan maybe.

OlennasWimple · 14/05/2018 02:15

Dress, cardigan and sling back kitten heels

Copperbonnet · 14/05/2018 02:27

I think in those circumstances I’d look for a casual dress (tea dress or jersey dress) and either flats or casual heels.

Thanks. I was thinking along the lines of a dress/tights/decent shoes. But worried of going to smart.

These were the two dresses I was considering

I own similar to both already-there longer on me than in the photos

Way too short for any interview!

Thenthatsthatthen · 14/05/2018 10:33

There both quite a bit longer on me. Just above the knee (I’m shortGrin)

Out of the two the dark one with the white stripes. Especially as you've mentioned it will be a bit longer on you.

I don't particularly like the other one it feels quite holiday wear to me but obviously that may be personal taste.
