How to stop legs looking 'pippy' when fake tanned?

My legs always look like a strawberry when I've got fake tan on, with little pips where the hair follicles are. I've tried umpteen different kinds of tan, and exfoliated before applying but it's always the same.

I'm incredibly pale and shave my legs daily, if that might make a difference?

How can I have lovely smooth looking legs this summer?

I never apply fake tan after shaving. I don't know the science but it seems to sink into the hair follicles and then you get that "pippy" effect.

I understand exactly what you mean - I use Dove now, but you will have to let your legs get a couple of days hair growth before you apply it I reckon.

Do you apply it straight after shaving? If so, leave it til the next evening.

you’re meant to exfoliate and remove hair 24hrs before hand. 1st shower after is water only, no soap etc.

So when would I shave my legs? 24 hours before and then when after?

I've got a bit of a thing about shaving that I might have to shake off. I shave every time I have shower or a bath, but it's not conducive to nicely tanned legs.

After you’ve tanned I’d leave it another 24 hrs because your taking a layer off in little stripes.

Don’t use razors with moisturising strips either, they leave streaks. I didn’t believe that one till I shaved and got Dh to spray me (I’m trained but I can’t do myself) and my legs went stripey.

You can top up with a daily tanner lotion.

I shave my legs in the morning, and then before bed I use a couple of drops of the Clarins fake-tan (the one you mix with your moisturiser) on my legs. Doing it this way helps avoid the pips!
