Large shoulder bag recommendations

Frazzled74 · 12/05/2018 22:40

I need a large bag for work and everyday use, need to fit A4 file, iPad etc for work, and wipes, water bottle, sun cream, the odd snack when on a day out with dc.I suffer from shoulder pain but have tried rucksacks, cross body bags and can’t get on with them. It needs to be fairly durable and not too expensive, £125 max. I’ve just come back from a day out and my shoulder is aching so much from uncomfortable shoulder straps, I didn’t even take much out today.

Longchamp La Pliage in nylon.

LooseyInTheSky · 12/05/2018 22:45

I bought this recently. It is lovely:

I have this and literally can’t tell you how many people have asked me where it’s from - a crazy bargain and leaves ££££ for other treats www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2680026_c05b/bee-charm-tote-bag-bronze

Thank you, I love the matalan one chic, but I don’t think it has a zip or fastening which is no good for rainy days and the tube etc. I’m tempted by the longchamp but it seems a lot for a nylon bag, will it last a year or two and are the shoulder straps comfy. The Calvin Klein one is lovely but I’d prefer a darker colour which is more expensive, does it hold much weight and are the straps comfortable? I really need to shop in real I think but I never get chance so I rely on online.

I have a fossil one which is brilliant.

Longchamp here too - I’ve had one for years and it is great. Lots of space and v comfy to carry. v durable. But only one v small inside pocket and I find I loose things in the bottom of it v easily!

I am.on the hunt too- the last few bags I've had have had that rubber edging on the straps- each and everytime it has come away from the material after a few months. I splashed out on a Coach tote online in the xmas sales - it arrived and went straight back, bloddy rubber edging the straps - wouldn't risk a rubber edged bag again.

Try mandarina duck. Very strong and last for ever. Generally good for vegans too.

I really want one of these.... https://saywhatyouc.com/collections/tote-bag/personalised-bags
Not sure if they're your thing or not.

Have hinted strongly for a few years to Santa, but nothing yet. Hmm

Itscurtainsforyou · 13/05/2018 00:41

I have this and really like it. They also have other colours/sizes.

GrimDamnFanjo · 13/05/2018 00:43

I swear by my Shona Easton leather tote. It's black with a bright pink interior. I lug it everywhere and it's still going strong after 3 years.

SpeckledyHen · 13/05/2018 07:06

Long handled medium size Longchamp Le Pliage . Can't be beaten IMO . Practice , light , comes in lots of colours . Nicely finished with tan leather . There is an outlet at Bicester village if that is of any help .

Vogue describes the Day Birger et Mikkelsen Gwyneth bag as a ‘magic bag’ and I agree with them

Radley get stick on here but quality is good and you can remove any annoying dog tag things!

Thank you, I’m going to go to a longchamp shop tomorrow and try one out.

I'd recommend the Longchamp too - really practical with kids as you can wipe it down or fling it in the washing machine. It's really light and I find the straps comfy even when fully loaded.

They're really durable too. The corners do tend to wear out but apparently if you keep the receipt you can get them repaired for free.

I've got this Fjallraven Tall Tote in navy and love it - I like that it zips up, has useful compartments and can be worn on back. I prefer a backpack day to day but this is smarter for meetings /conferences etc www.fjallraven.co.uk/shop/totepack-no4-tall-F24232-navy/?sku=7323450391072

Absolutely Longchamp Le Pliage, mine has lasted years, looks new, the beauty of them (apart from folding down) is that they are so light weight, you say that you are going to put lots of stuff in your new bag?, I find that if you have the weight of a decent sized leather bag, plus the contents, it can make it quite heavy, some of the new design of Le Pliage are gorgeous
