Will I look too old/try hard in this dress?

30th birthday party. I’m 36. I really like it, but not sure if it’s a bit young/childlike?

m.asos.com/boohoo/boohoo-floral-pleated-skater-dress/prd/9472644?clr=ivory&SearchQuery=&cid=13930&gridcolumn=1&gridrow=7&gridsize=2&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=924

Plus the only thing I ever bought from Boohoo was pretty crap. Has it improved in the last 5 years?

ImagineAllThePeople1 · 11/05/2018 20:57

That dress is lovely and definitely not too young!
Boohoo is much better quality than it used to be, their stuff is really good quality now imo.

DextroDependant · 11/05/2018 20:58

I like it and think it would be fine for your age.

Juicyfrooty · 11/05/2018 20:59

It's a pretty dress, I'm 36 and i would wear it.

About 90% of stuff I've ordered from boo hoo has been awful quality and sent back though. You do get the odd gem however.

BrightonCalling · 11/05/2018 21:12

I like it and would pair with black cage heels

Westwoodviv75 · 11/05/2018 21:32

Looks more expensive than it is! Nice cut, great choice.
I think the term 'skater' dress makes you think teenage girl! This isn't though!

rageface · 11/05/2018 22:26

Okay, I’m going to order it!

What about shoes? I’m not really a fan of caged style, I’m not sure my legs are quite right for them.

I have nude pointy heels and a black pair of (natural) block heels which tie round my ankles. But I think I’d maybe like red sandals to wear with it. Is that too obvious a choice?

Id try what u have first before u buy new pair xx

AfterSchoolWorry · 12/05/2018 18:31

It's gorgeous.

BusterGonad · 12/05/2018 18:37

Go for red shoes, I would, and I do t care if it looks too obvious! 🤣

Fairylea · 12/05/2018 18:51

Red shoes would be more fashionable. Nude shoes are elegant but will detract from it being “trendy”.

I think you can wear pretty much anything in your 30s. You’re still very young! I actually think with the right figure and accessories anyone can wear most things at any age.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/05/2018 18:53

You're not too old for it, but I don't like the dress, it's the high neck thing.

LanaorAna2 · 12/05/2018 19:11

You'll look great. Red shoes useful year round, unlike nude, but nude will make your legs look longer.

MrsPear · 12/05/2018 19:12

It is 100% polyester! Lovely dress but I wouldn’t because I would get too hot and my legs esp thighs are too fat to wear something that short.

I would wear red heels - zalando have good selection.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 12/05/2018 19:14

How tall are you? I'm 5"7 and my backside would be dangerously close to being on show in that dress (which would definitely scare the horses).

rageface · 12/05/2018 22:38

I’m 5” 2. Might be too short actually, since it has two true waist.

OP posts:
MulberryPeony · 13/05/2018 08:57

I think it’s lovely and I’m 41 so not too old no.

ThreeJoeys · 13/05/2018 09:07

Beautiful dress. If I had the legs, I'd order one too.

peachypetite · 13/05/2018 09:08

Boohoo quality is dubious!

misscph1973 · 13/05/2018 09:10

You are not too old at all for this. I'm 45, and I would probably find it a bit short as I have a long back. But the look is fine.
