Bikinis give me migraines!

ACurlyWurly · 11/05/2018 10:57

its the halterneck ones pressing on the back of my neck where they tie up and i get the worst headaches when i wear them.

I am looking for a bikini that is built like a bra and used to be able to find them everywhere but they seem to have vanished. I don't want to spend a fortune but all the shops i have been to seem to have the string tied ones.

Found a top randomly in Tesco this morning but it has separate bottoms which are high waist stomach control ones.

Can any of you help point me in the right direction?

for clarification - it is migraines rather than headaches!

I am looking for matching sets Matalan have some but bottoms in my size are all out of stock!

Try the Leia and Figleaves websites.

Freya do tops exactly as you want, they are pricey but they last and last.

Strongbeatsskinny · 11/05/2018 12:05

Try bra stop and lingerie outlet online they do a variety of branded bikinis

DianaT1969 · 11/05/2018 23:43

I get migraines from halternecks too, but I am 32FF, so not surprising.

Look at these websites:

Bravissimo
Brastop
Airy Mary
Belle Lingerie
Ample Bosom
Leia
Simply Beach

Google for Panache, Cleo, Lepel and Freya bikinis. Panache come up small on the band IMO. Pour Moi are a good price for separate bikinis made like bras too.
You might find some in TKMaxx too. Not bra size, but well constructed.

Try ASOS. Massive range. For all sizes. Lots of different styles.

I have also tied the neck straps to the back strap in the style of a bra if that makes sense when I couldn’t bear the feeling on my neck.

thenightsky · 11/05/2018 23:53

Debenhams have loads of bra sized ones with different types of bottoms to match. I get a new one every year from there. I'm 34E cup.

Boux Avenue and Ann Summers

Sea salt do gorgeous sets

Turnitupdrhill · 12/05/2018 00:02

Boden do some nice structured ones and you can mix and match tops and bottoms. They've also got a few in their clearance section. I thought I was the only person to get this, but obviously not!

PrimalLass · 12/05/2018 00:02

Freya

ijustwannadance · 12/05/2018 00:11

Have a look at Asda or debenhams

Emlorn · 12/05/2018 22:26

I quite literally feel your pain (32ff). Freya are the best I've found - bought NWT from eBay so not too ££

NotARegularPenguin · 12/05/2018 22:31

Have you tried a Halto for your halterneck? I haven’t but saw an ad for them and it’s mesnt to relieve the pressure.

here

specialsubject · 12/05/2018 23:01

tie the knot to one side, not in the middle of your neck.

where are you getting halterneck tops? found any without ghastly flowers, metal bits or padding?

ACurlyWurly · 18/05/2018 14:25

Sadly its not the knot that causes it i have it even without knots or if i tie them sideways.

i have found some lovely ones in next but the bottoms are all the tummy control ones in the store near me and whilst my tummy probably (definitely) needs control I dont want to wear pants up to my navel!

Boden is out of my price range sadly as they do some lovely things.

On the bright side, i found myself in Primark yesterday and found a lovely one! like a bra and simple colours with no flashy, blingy, floaty, padded stuff going on (also available in halterneck) for the total price of £12 for top and bottoms!!! had to go up a couple of sizes in bottoms as they are cut on the small side but its really nice. I will keep looking out for other alternatives as i do like to have a couple of options on holiday

Hello! Have you tried M&S? I was looking for halter-neck bikinis the other day and all they seemed to have were the bra-type ones!

macnab · 18/05/2018 14:45

You need to get a proper 'lingerie' brand for the support of a bra.

eBay is your friend for this. Just filter by bra size and you'll find exactly what you're looking for, they will have matching bottoms too. I got a Panache one a few years ago and it fits brilliantly, and has really lasted. It was a total bargain too.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 18/05/2018 15:25

I really miss the days of being able to buy bikinis in bra sizes without monstrous amounts of padding. And the sneaky idea that halternecks will hold everything up is terrible. I'm 36F and halters make me walk like a donkey that's been whipped from Wigan to Blackpool and back.
