Perfume for men - recommendations please

Can anyone recommend a sexy scent for a man please? DP's birthday is coming up and he would love a new scent.

He currently wears Paul Smith, both the green one and the stripey one, and he's also worn a chanel one - maybe Allure? He doesn't mind what he wears, if it makes me want to jump on him it's done its job. I like quite light citrussy scents, but am open to other options.

We're mid-late 30s so super classy only please Wink
no idea if Paul Smith is remotely classy, DP started wearing it when he was about 22

Armani Aqua Di Gio. Works for me on 52 year old DH

My DP wears Paul smith too but also wears million which I love!

Hermes Eau d'Orange Vert. If you like citrus scents it is lovely and lasts well. Not cheap but very classy.

That just confirms that scent is very much down to personal taste. The Armani suggested above reminds me of Lynx, as once favoured by teenage boys, instead of a shower.

I came on to suggest Terre D’Hermes and, in a similar, to my nose, part of the scent jungle but with much more ‘Phoar!’, Timbuktu by L’Artisan Parfumeur.

The Hermes will be more readily available than the Timbuktu, which might have an influence on your decision.

My OH has a ‘wardrobe’ of boy scent. The Hermes is standard ‘day wear’ the Timbuktu, more ‘evening’.

I’d recommend ‘Perfumes. The A to Z Guide’ by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez. For their scent knowledge but mainly for the laughs. It’s informative and hilarious. It’s the book that put me onto Timbuktu. They love it.

Me and DH looooove Bleu de Chanel. It’s classy without being too young or too old and stuffy and quite fresh.

Loads of nice things to sniff, thanks! Just realised we're going on holiday in a week so I can do some sniffing on local shops then stealthily but while he orders his super classy breakfast Guinness Envy

YY to Terre d'Hermes and Bleu de Chanel

Also check out La Nuit de l'Homme by YSL.

Agree with Dior Homme. Sublime

terre d'hermes
penhaligon's sartorial and opus

I think Terre d'Hermes is a vetiver frangrance -- if you like them you could also have a sniff of Tom Ford's Gray Vetiver in the duty free shop.
I can also heartily recommend Perfumes - the Guide by Luca Turin (best name ever) and Tania Sanchez -- with the warning that the book will cost your far more than the cover price!
