What to wear with this dress?

I have ordered this dress to wear to my daughter's confirmation next week - www.asos.com/asos/asos-split-sleeve-cap-sleeve-midi-dress-with-circle-belt/prd/8738034?iid=8738034&custref=132983711&affid=14564&channelref=email&orderref=328691591 - and have bought some red sandals and a bag to go with it. More tomato red than cherry red. The thing is that the confirmation is in the evening and I have no idea what to wear over the dress as it might be pretty chilly. I don't want to spend a fortune on a new coat. Is there anything else that would look ok - just not sure what colour of cover up to go for.

What do you already have in your wardrobe in the way of coats and jackets? Navy and red is a pretty bold combination, so I'm not sure you can introduce a third colour unless it's something very understated and quiet like grey.

I think if you've already introduced red you can't introduce a third colour. So it should be either navy or red.

Thanks - I have a lovely navy coat from Mint Velvet but think it will be too heavy. If I switched to nude shoes and bag, is there another colour I could wear? Or should I just buy a navy pashmina type thing to throw around my shoulders?

I think it would be best to stick to two colours to be honest. But yes, nude would be alightly better to introduce a third colour.

A navy pashmina would work, as would a silver grey one.

Navy feels right to me. Pashmina is easy solution or better a cardi. Nude lets you introduce a third colour but somehow my nose wrinkles at thought of nude shoes, navy dress. Its feels tired. Love idea of red shoes and bag with the dress. At a push something black would probably wirk too if you don't have a navy cover up. But ideally navy. Nice simple make up that goes with it.
