summer skirts

Hi, I am looking for a couple of casual, but not denim, knee length skirts for summer. I would prefer plain ones, but a small pattern would do. Am not keen on large patterns like windmills or sailing boats. I suit A-line skirts, and can't see any anywhere. Have just come back from a session with a personal stylist in John Lewis, and she couldn't find me any. Am feeling quite despondent about the whole thing.

Sorry, can't help you but I'm looking for some too. Looked everywhere last year without success. Surely they must exist somewhere?!

lancashirebornandbred · 09/05/2018 17:51

The personal shopper told me that a) people were always asking her for them, and b) there wasn't really much demand. She advised me to buy it straight away if I saw one, as there wasn't really time to ponder it, or someone else would buy it.

I usually find Boden have few A line summer skirts. Some of their prints are mad but they do plainer ones also. I have some for years and just buy new one each Summer.....they wash and last v well.

I got one in next a few weeks ago, it’s a stripe pattern I think they have a few different ones, might be worth a look.

Try Joanie Clothing - they have loads of a-line skirts - knee and midi length.

Would something like this work? Or too smart?

rollingonariver · 09/05/2018 20:06

Dorothy Perkins always have quite a few A-line skirts, they're not necessarily all the way to the knee but they are quite long.

HeyMicky · 09/05/2018 20:09

I just bought one from Gap - very flattering

neveradullmoment99 · 09/05/2018 20:10

I have also been looking for this type of skirt. They all seem to be calf length. Its so annoying! White stuff used to have loads as did boden but now they are all horrible patterns, over the knee or pencil skirts.

AwkwardSquad · 09/05/2018 20:10

Have a look in Seasalt.

neveradullmoment99 · 09/05/2018 20:20

There are very few on the seasalt website this year sadly. They used have loads too. Most are past the knee and some aren't particularly nice print wise.

lancashirebornandbred · 09/05/2018 20:30

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep looking, especially in Next and Dorothy Perkins. I hate shopping. So frustrating when you know exactly what you want and can't find it.

Fat face have a few skirts. I bought two at the weekend- first time I have shopped in there for years!

DressageNut · 09/05/2018 20:53

Zalando have some decent ones at the moment.

fishybits · 09/05/2018 21:06

Boden on eBay. I only wear A-line skirts and that's where I find them.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 09/05/2018 22:44

White Stuff and Fat Face usually do them.

BigFatBloomers · 10/05/2018 11:17

This one from Mantaray isn’t too loud.

Sweetheart · 10/05/2018 11:21

I have just brought this one it's very flattering

SergeantPfeffer · 10/05/2018 13:15

I have an old Hobbs on that’s very similar to the m&s one and I love it- might have to get the m&s one to replace it!

rightknockered · 10/05/2018 13:18

I love that second Esprit skirt Bloomers

CointreauVersial · 10/05/2018 16:37

You probably don't want to hear this, but......generally, if you can't find a particular style anywhere in the High Street shops, then it's probably no longer in fashion.

I used to wear a lot of this style of skirt, but they feel quite dated now. The only place I can think of that still might do them is White Stuff.

Next have some nice casual summer skirts in a variety of colours here.
