Varicose veins/tread veins on legs - Horse Chestnut?

Has anyone tried Horse Chestnut creams or pills for varicose veins and thread veins on legs.

I hate showing my legs in summer and therefore never wear dresses or shorts and it would be great if this helped as there was an article in Daily Mail today about Julia Bradbury having surgery etc. and one of the comments said Horse Chestnut was good for this. I also have very blue prominent veins on backs of hands so it may help them too?

Anyone tried it or have any other ideas?

Tried the cream years ago. Did nothing. How could it really tho?. I think the only option is the injections bit all the reports I've read of those mention them coming back. Tan/fake/makeup if I'm really bothered or ignore.
