Varicose veins

Heading near 40 and after a subtle appearance last year, my legs are suddenly this year quite heavily riddled with thick, bulging purple creatures.

My mother has had hers done twice ( I gather they are often heriditary) and I do a job (and have done for years) where I'm on my feet all day.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't quite gutted as long(ish) slim (ish) legs were probably what I felt most confident about. Even worse, they seem to throb and ache in the recent warm weather.

Any tips for these unsightly pins of mine? Am I doomed to a life of flesh coloured granny tights and aching legs?

Surgery, laser, body make up, hiding them with clothes, trying tanning...
Ive had them since i was 18. I know 40 is young but it couldve been worse!
If youre working you could get it lasered on finance credits?

Methenyouplus4 · 09/05/2018 18:23

So does that hide the appearance or reduce the buldge...or both? Also, what are finance credits, like a loan (or assuming not available on NHS)?

Sorry to hear you'very suffered from so young, they really are horrible things.

Have you had any treatment on them before? If not then consider paying for private health insurance that covers varicose vein treatment. You could pay for the treatment yourself ofcourse but it's not cheap. Unfortunately the NHS won't pay for veins unless you have ulcers

Julia bradbury has just has hers done and they look brilliant, £1995 for both legs apparently.

Gosh, I work but that is a lot of ££££ for me.

I haven't had anything done or been to the doctors, I will have a look at insurance.
