Bleaching hair.

I went to the hairdresser to get my naturally dark hair dyed a light pink

I’d lost all my hair previously so this was virgin hair.

She highlighted my hair then put a pink colour over it but had to put a blue in too as the colour wasn’t right and did this without asking

2 weeks on its faded and my hair where highlighted is mostly orange :( with some pink through it. I’m gutted as I thought it would be a safer bet to pay a hairdresser to do it

So my question really is? What would happen if I bleached it now myself. It looks terrible and I need to do something with it.

In all honesty I really like the colour, I used to always want that peachy pink colour.

Do you need to bleach it again if it was only done a couple of weeks ago? Could you not just try to re dye it? Or was it not light enough for the colour to take properly to begin with?

The sad thing is a lot of the brightly coloured dyes do tend to wash out pretty quickly.

Unfortunately (ime anyway) dyed bright colour hair simply doesn't last long, and pink is one of the worst for fading! I actually quite like the colour it is now but that's by the by if you do not.

Honestly I don't think your hair was light enough and pink is a difficult colour to keep. I'd start using a semipermanent pink to see if that helps to bring some colour back.

Once you have pink/orange in your hair you are f**&$^ if you bleach it....

My advice is to go and speak to another hairdresser. Maybe they suggest doing nothing for a few weeks and letting it really wash out. At 18 I bleached my then crimson hair, and it went candy floss pink, I bleached and bleached until I had to crop it and wear head scarves. Don't do that.

If you beach your hair it will go pale pink, orangey, you won't get a uniform colour most likely. Then if you wanted you could put another colour over the top, one that doesn't react with the bleach that you have previously washed out- I don't know- you may sit their crying if it all goes wrong and spend 18 months growing it out.

Thanks for the replies. I think I’m going to have to bite the bullet and speak to another hairdresser

I think the problem is that the highlights she put in are more orange (or golden as she said at the time) and that’s why the pink never really took.
