Help! - easy way to do top knots?!!

DD, 13 yrs has worn her long, thick hair loose for some time now & has only just wanted to started trying to wear her hair in a top knot!

She's tried to do it herself but is really struggling & gets stressed, I've tried helping her, I'm not very good but she's stressing because she wants to be able to do it herself & 'all her friends can do it easily' but she can't!

I've suggested she watches a few you tube videos but she's dismissed that idea 🙄 Nothing I seem to do helps! I've tried showing her how I'd do it on my hair but my hair isn't anywhere near as long as hers & it is much easier doing on your own hair than someone elses!

She struggles with getting it in a ponytail because her hair is that thick, I think it's just the lack of practice along with the impatience that's getting to her! She's using two poinytail bands, in wondering if she'd be be better of with one of those donut things?!

Has she tried an invisibobble? If she has very thick hair she might not even have to loop it - just pull hair half through and fan out. I have finer hair and use the mini version this way.

tbh if she won't take your advice and watch youtube vids I wouldn't bother - surely that's the best place for a teenage girl! But.... first make sure she tips her head upside down and brushes the sides into a neat pony, then twist up and round and secure with one of those plastic ponytail bands that looks like telephone wire. Sounds like she needs some of those big hair pins too. a donut will add loads of bulk so probably avoid them if she already has thick hair.

Well you've tried to help and she's rejecting your overtures so ? It's not an important matter so let her come up with her own solutions.
