OP have you had hormone tests at GP? Best start there.

Is there any chance you could be pregnant again? I had hairfall with DD1. It grew back. Then when pregnant with DC2 it fell again. Same as you, at the front.

There's something similar to Minoxil which is apparently better/less side effects but I've forgotten the name. A chat with a sympathetic GP is 1st step tho.

I’ve had less hair fall since I started taking EPO. I’m not taking it for that, but it’s a nice side effect. Maybe try it and see.

Same thing here after my last pregnancy. Ty gp told me to take a silica suppliment. The improvement was pretty dramatic.

Thanks all for your response..
@Mulberrysilk I have started on silica supplement and already got my bloods done and other than low iron rest all was ok.
@MistressDeeCee I can't be pregnant but i have started the minoxil thing but very irregular with it..

@UnderTheDesk is EPO safe to use..i think u can't get it without prescription.

Have you had your ferritin level checked? Mine was falling and thinning horribly. My GP referred me to a dermatologist who did blood tests and said although my ferritin wasn’t low enough at 35 to be classed as anaemia, it was low for hair health and growth. She said it needed to be between 70 - 100. It took ages on supplements from GP (ferrous fumerate 210 x 2 daily) but after about a year it stopped falling out and started growing much better. The dermatologist also prescribed minadoxil drops but because my scalp is so sensitive I didn’t dare use them. I also took biotin and silica supplements off my own bat because i was so dismal about it and wanted to do whatever I could that might help. I’m still on ferritin from GP and my hair is the best it’s been for years. Still fine and thin because that’s how it has always been but not falling out and growing much quicker than it used to.

Oh, by EPO I meant Evening Primrose Oil. I didn’t even réalise there was a drug called EPO as well, until I googled it just now. You don’t need a prescription for evening primrose oil. Grin

@Dwellerfromunderthesink
Thanks i am going to take an appointment with my gp tomorrow i doubt they will refer me to the dermatologist.. as they usually avoid referrals at all costs (almost) racks for the info.

@UnderTheDesk
Hahaha phew that's good to know... feel silly that i dost know this already

When you say your bloods showed low iron is it possible to ask for a print out of the result or ask if they can give you it over the phone. Did they check your ferritin levels at the same time do you know? If not I’d ask for that to be done and when you get the results ask for the figure. If it’s under 70 then maybe you could ask the gp to prescribe ferritin fumerate (supposed to be gentler on the stomach.) for your hair loss. Maybe if the GP is reluctant to refer they would prescribe the ferritin and minodoxil. I got both on prescription. Good luck.
