Caramel toner at home

I have some blonde highlights and my hairdresser puts on a caramel toner so always looks lovely and fresh when I've just had it done but doesn't last long. It seems easy enough to do the toner but where do I start and what product would you use to get the caramel colour?

Scott Cornwall Colour Restore Caramel Toner. £12.99 in Boots. A bit pricey, but boots sometimes have offers on this.

Ive not tried it myself though.
