I have just ordered this:

m.asos.com/asos-tall/asos-design-tall-tea-dress-in-large-spot-print/prd/8951513?clr=spot&SearchQuery=&cid=8799&gridcolumn=1&gridrow=20&gridsize=2&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=269

(Sorry for the weird looking link - I’m on my phone. It’s just Asos).

It is for a family wedding, where I will need boob access as I am feeding my dc who will be 5 mo.

I’m a tall apple, size 14.

I need some help please with what shoes to wear with it and maybe with a bag too. I was thinking maybe something bright for the shoes? I also need a lowish heel as will be chasing around my 3yo as well as looking after the baby.

Many TIA.

Nothing special about this dress op.. but i am no fashionista.. others will be coming along soon i hope with more positive comments .. n it's black which won't be ok for me for a wedding... is it in summers if yes can u not try some florals colourful dress

yellowmellw · 08/05/2018 18:52

It's a nice dress but I would definitely brighten it up with colourful shoes and fascinator to match

yellowmellw · 08/05/2018 18:55

Shoes like these or even nice wedges which are comfy

It’s a lovely dress but (and I mean this in the nicest kindest way as have a 7mo DD and 2 DS age 3 and 6) it looks as though it might come up a bit short especially if you’re bending down to pick up 3 year
old? Or if like me your tummy hasn’t snapped back to flat and it might pull the front of the dress up a bit?
I think it’s beautiful though and festive
for a summer do! Perhaps buy, try and then you can always send it back if if it’s not comfy/suitable. With two kids in two the LAST thing you want to be worrying about is whether your dress is riding up or if it’s hard to get access when you’re nursing. Seraphine do some lovely maternity/nursing dresses too if you need some more inspiration.

Thanks all!

Yes, I worried about two things when I ordered this, both of which have been mentioned by posters on here;

  1. is it a bit short?
  2. the whole wearing black to a wedding means you disapprove of the marriage or something..? Do people still think that though? I definitely DO approve. They’re a lovely couple!

I’m a few inches shorter than the woman modelling the dress, so I reckon when it arrives it might come up longer on me... I’ll have to see when it arrives.

I’m going for understated and not too ‘girly’, for want of a better word. Florals are my nemesis. I always end up looking like Hyacinth Bucket Grin!

The wedding is in the summer, though it’s in a notoriously wet part of the country, so may not be bright sunshine on the day.

I like the red shoes linked to above. I was also thinking about maybe pink or tan.

It's OK.... I reckon u could do better. What's your fave colour to wear?

BernardBlacksHangover · 08/05/2018 19:51

I do wear rather a lot of black...

Unfortunately, the bridesmaids are wearing my other favourite (navy), so I can’t really wear that for fear of looking all “it should have been me” Grin.

Thanks @mickey.

That is nice, but I prefer dresses with sleeves, (in order to cover my upper arms, aka bingo wings). There’s also something about it which just isn’t my cup of tea, but I can’t pinpoint what it is... .

Have to show us a pic when the dress arrives 👍

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 08/05/2018 20:33

If you are breast feeding, might you not be better with a skirt/trousers and a top you can lift up for easier feeding? We went to a wedding when our first was a few months old. I was all ready to go in a dress then realised I’d be sat in the toilets to feed him. That said the dress you’ve shown looks accessible, id maybe take a shawl or scarf for modesty. Please take the pressure off yourself, go with something you’ll be comfortable in and which is practical for breastfeeding and enjoy yourself

BernardBlacksHangover · 08/05/2018 20:40

Actually, I did originally think I’d rather wear trousers and a top, for comfort and easy access, but I’ve had no luck finding anything I like. Especially the trousers which never seem to fit me properly.

If the dress doesn’t look right, then I’ll go on the hunt for a skirt instead maybe. It just seems like more work finding two whole items of clothing which actually fit me.

I’m a slightly reluctant shopper tbh. I’m happy when I have an outfit, but really don’t enjoy shopping for one.

And YY, I’ll post a photo when it arrives, (unless it’s too ghastly for public viewing Grin).

m.asos.com/ax-paris/ax-paris-floral-hi-lo-maxi-dress/prd/9197035?clr=navy&SearchQuery=ax%20paris&gridcolumn=2&gridrow=1&gridsize=4&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=26 I have this, which I bought as Samantha fraiers (no idea if I spelt that right) posted a picture of her wearing the same style but different pattern.

I am apple shape (size 14 too), and honestly it makes me feel amazing!

It's out of stock on that link, but on the ax Paris website it had various different colours and patterns of the same dress

LexieLulu · 08/05/2018 21:05

This was the picture she posted, that pattern went out of stock why I bought the pattern I got.

The fabric is like that crepe texture? I feel like it hides lumps x

Thanks - that looks lovely on Sam Faiers but definitely not my style. It’s the florals!

PS: it’s not just the florals. Appreciate you did say it’s abailable in other patterns.

Would you wear metalics with the dress Op, gold or silver wedge or mid heel sandals? A matching wrap and handbag in a metalic? Teamed with a understated necklace and earrings if you have pierced ears.

BernardBlacksHangover · 09/05/2018 10:07

Thanks. Yes, I think silver or gold might be nice actually. Maybe a muted gold rather than bright and brassy.
