Finding plain tops to wear with patterned skirts/trousers

I am having real trouble finding plain tops to go with patterned trousers/skirts. I don’t understand why shops don’t sell things that go together. All the tops I have found are either slightly the wrong colour/shade to match or have a pattern so look silly together.

For example what can I wear with this? www.marksandspencer.com/floral-print-wide-leg-trousers/p/p60155292

Or this?

I have resorted to having half a dozen white vest tops. Because many are quite thin, I tend to wear two together.

oh yes I've got exactly that problem with a yellow patterned skirt I was excited to get in the Boden sale. I'm hopeless with white, it will be ruined on the first wear or failing that first wash, but haven't yet found an alternative - I thought grey, but haven't yet found quite the right thing

Just ordered 4 plain t shirts from next to wear with my patterned trousers. Have a feeling they're going to be horrible synthetic material but the colours should match. Only £5 and lots of variety colour wise.

I always find it difficult with skirts, and then how do you know if you have the top going tucked into the skirt or not!?

Primark t-shirts are actually good. What about plain navy with those florals OP? M&s do all shades don't they? I found a nice navy jersey stretch t-shirt in TK Maxx recently which goes with everything. I wear it under a blazer at work on chilly days. I can't wear white either as it drains me, looks naff and is ruined by sunscreen.

That skirt looks like it needs a gypsy top in white to work.

The trousers would surely just need a t shirt in white, navy or light blue to set them off. Stick another colour bag/ jewellery with it and jobs a goodun.

New Look have plain white and plain black longish line vest tops in at the moment. Also I haven't looked recently but Red Herring at Debenhams always had good straps vest tops in various plain colours.
