I need help with all of my fake tan problems!

I’ve got good legs but every summer I hide them up in leggings as I hate my skin and need advice.
I’ve got horrible dry, corned beef legs with very dry knees. I use Aveeno but if I leave it a day or two they dry back up again.
I really want to get my legs out this year but want to fake tan them as I really, really hate the corned beef look!
But whenever I fake tan I get the classic, brown tell tale marks on my dry patches. I also find the fake tan seeps into the holes where my hair grow from and I look all pin pricky!
I usually exfoliate and moisturise before hand but I always get this.
What am I doing wrong and how can I achieve a lovely golden glow for the summer? Help!

The only advice I have for fake tanning is to rub it in really, really, really well. When you think you've rubbed it in enough, rub some more. It's the only way I know to stop streaks and the pin prickly effect you've described.

Me too OP, am co sidering getting bondi sands and a proper tanning mitt.

My top tips are exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Exfoliate every day (maybe twice) for several days beforehand. Also, use a gradual tanner/moisturiser rather than straight fake tan.

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs!

Thanks all, I’ve got a pair of those exfoliating gloves so will start using those.
Never thought of gradual tan, sounds a good idea.
I bought some airbrush legs last year and never used it, will dig it out and give it a try.

I have similar issues. I recommend finding the right product first - bondi sands gradual tan and palmers cocoa butter gradual tan are both great and don't streak.
Exfoliate, then apply a very thin layer (tiny tiny) of Vaseline over knees or problem skin areas, this will stop the tan sticking and looking patchy. Rub in really well with circular motions (using gloves).
I have to do it everyday, it's quite high maintenance and this is why I hate wearing shorts and skirts unless it's too hot to wear anything else!

I find a bit of air and sun on my legs does them good

So I look pasty and blue veined with scaly skin, but then after a bit they look "normal" and weirdly less dry after a few days/weeks of bare legs
