Seasalt sizing and fit

I haven't bought anything from Seasalt before but have my eye on a few summer dresses. I'm outside the UK so can't stop by a store and try them on.

I am wondering - are they generous in size? Do they suit the short and curvy of figure or are they more for those who are tall and slender? Are the waistlines at the waist if you have big boobs (like me), or will they end up under my boobs?

Anything else I should be aware of when ordering from them?

Thanks for any help!

Just bought a dress there! Am normally a 14, or an L but bought a 12

Size 34c though, a bigger bra size would not have fitted iyswim

Good length for me, at 6ft

Don't know if that is helpful!

sonjadog · 06/05/2018 18:42

That's helpful, thanks! I'm kind of between two sizes so wasn't sure which way to go.

I love their clothes, but their sizing (at the larger end) is hugely inconsistent. I order by post and sometimes it can take 3 attempts to get the right size, I don’t find that problem with other brands. On the whole they are very generous but not reliable on fit!

AmethystMoon · 06/05/2018 19:07

Definitely on the generous side.

makingmyway10 · 06/05/2018 19:35

I am short and curvy of figure with big boobs! I love sea salt but the sizing is really inconsistent! I have just bought a couple of dresses and had to size up as they are extremely on the bust. Hope that helps!

makingmyway10 · 06/05/2018 19:36

Sorry.... Extremely tight on the bust!

Vangoghsear · 06/05/2018 19:38

I would agree with Allgirls that sizing is inconsistent. I would be wary of buying without trying on.

PickAChew · 06/05/2018 19:39

It is generous. I'm a 14 and big around the bust but wear their 12.

BikeRunSki · 06/05/2018 19:41

I find the jersey tops huge and the dresses small. The waists sit too high on me too (5’8”, but with a very long back).

HoldingTheLineWinston · 06/05/2018 19:44

I think Seasalt are quite small if you are of ample boobage...many of their dresses that fit me at the waist will not fit up top and I'm only moderately endowed.

sonjadog · 06/05/2018 19:45

Ok thanks. Maybe I should wait until I am next in the UK to try them on, or find something really cheap in a sale. It is a huge hassle to send stuff back from abroad and expensive, so I would really like to avoid that!

I have big boobs and find Seasalt v generous. In Boden etc I'd buy a 16 but Seasalt I get 12 or 14 if I want a loose fit.
I just counted and have 12 Seasalt stripy tops Blush

ilovecherries · 06/05/2018 19:54

I had carnmoggas last year. Pluses were incredibly soft and comfortable. Cons were it made me look pregnant. Waist was far too high, then a really swingy skirt which was a tad short for the style. I'm 5'7 and was wearing the regular length.

HoldingTheLineWinston · 06/05/2018 19:54

Next stock some Seasalt items, and they do deliver to some places abroad..might be worth ordering something from them to test general sizing as they will likely have a good returns system.

CocoaGin · 06/05/2018 19:56

I've got the Berry shirt in a 22 and it won't go over my hips Hmm.
I've got a few cotton tunics in a 20 and they fit perfectly.
I ordered two dresses this week in a 20 and I could got have got myself and my 3 DDs in them. Had to get in a 16 after trying the 18 too.

Horribly inconsistent sizing which really pisses me off as I love their clothes and the nearest branch is around 60 miles away.

sonjadog · 06/05/2018 19:58

That's good to know, ilovecherries. I quite often have that problem with dresses as big boobs means the waist ends up far too high.

Ill check out Next, thanks!

I've got a similar bamboo dress with longer sleeves that I bought in the Jan sale. I'm 5'3" and find the waist fine but its a bit longer than I'd like for wearing with tights and boots. Size wise I thought it was about right, as is my other dress from there.

nothingwittyhere · 06/05/2018 22:37

I think John Lewis also sell seasalt. I've found the reviews on the Seasalt website usually helpful in working out how a particular item fits.
