Swimwear and pregnancy

I’ve been trying to buy some new swimwear in the past few weeks, and finally found a costume I liked, but I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. I’m going to send the costume back because it was a bit snug anyway, so the slightest growth will render it unwearable!

We have a pool so I swim (gently!) daily when the weather warms up, but we are also going away for a week in July. I like a practical swimsuit that also looks nice too.

What did you wear in first/second trimester? Do I just go with a bikini and forget the swimsuit idea? Or just go up a size? I will probably only need it up to about 20 weeks so will I even have a bump at all?

I really like one - do you think the ruching around the tummy would be enough to accommodate a slight bump?

I just wore a bikini when I was pregnant, mind you this was pre maternity swimsuits

at 20 weeks I didn't have much of a bump tbh do it would probably be ok.

Many years ago I purchased a navy and white striped maternity swimsuit for a 3 week holiday in Florida. I was 28 weeks when we went and my bump got much bigger over the 3 weeks. Result was a striped suntan through the fabric which caused much amusement with the team looking after me. Suggest you go for decent fabric!

I bought a maternity swim tank top, I think it was sea folly and wore it with some of my black bikini bottoms, it was super comfy and accommodated my ginormous boobs.
I also wore the top for my water birth as my chest was so big I was uncomfortable if they weren't contained Grin
