Mother of the bride outfits will be a little harder to find in future...

Eastex and Precis are also affected

Not for the first time. I would expect the brands to be bought out - like Berketex, Ladybird, Windsmoor

FadedRed · 03/05/2018 22:48

That's a shame, I'm of the age where JV and Precis are my go-to for posh frocks. Sad Wonder if there will be a closing down sale where I can stock up?

Itscurtainsforyou · 03/05/2018 23:36

An entire floor of House of Fraser will be empty.

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 03/05/2018 23:56

There's still Biba, Mint Velvet, HallHuber, French Connection, Karen Millen and Chesca where I am.

I am not surprised. I have never worn anything by Jacques Vert despite going up to larger sizes as too 'Mother of the Bride' for me. I did get a dash top decades ago but really too boring for me to buy anything else.

ClosDesMouches · 04/05/2018 14:53

Precis Petite tops are the only tops I can wear without needing alterations.

JohnLewis.com stooped selling Precis Petite a while ago. I don't know if it's still available in the stores.

Only this morning I've returned two tops direct to Precis. I imagine with this news that I'm not going to see my refund.
Awful CS from them too, would much prefer to have ordered from JL as I used to.

They're not doing too well either.

Chewbecca · 04/05/2018 15:01

Eastex is the best brand for MiL, she'll be v disappointed. We posted some returns for her today, I do hope the refund comes through.

Anyone know other stores with Eastex style clothes?

ClosDesMouches · 04/05/2018 15:30

I'll let you know if I get mine, Chewbecca.
The annoying thing is that I was in two minds about returning the tops, they were both nice but I felt that they were similar to others in my wardrobe so 'sensibly' returned them. I should have just kept them!

LIZS · 04/05/2018 15:45

It is highly likely they will be bought out as a going concern, as previously. Although iiirc it was a management buyout.

Thanks HQ!

@Chewbecca, can you keep an eye on your Inbox, I'm going to PM you.

nothingwittyhere · 11/05/2018 13:34

I would imagine you will get your refunds if you ordered online, as the law protects your right to cancel for 14 days after you receive your order. If you bought in a shop then they could refuse a refund unless they were faulty.

nothingwittyhere · 11/05/2018 13:36

LIZS it used to be the case that organisations were often bought out after going into administration, but that seems much less common now (for which I personally blame Brexit). Eg, East, Maplin, ToysRUs, etc.

ClosDesMouches · 11/05/2018 14:14

Not the case nothing.

They've updated their refund policy to say that orders made before 4th May 2018 will not be refunded by them. Orders made after that date are being refunded as normal. so it's a case of contacting credit card company/Paypal etc to try to make a claim for an order before last Friday.

I can't say much more about it just now, which is why I asked MN to delete my earlier post.
