Anyone else rather taken with Mrs Durrell's style?

Will only make sense to anyone who has been watching The Durrell's on ITV.... I keep looking with some envy at her summer wear - specifically the pretty collared shirts and linen skirts. All so elegant, somehow. Then I look at my own wardrobe of shapeless T-shirts with despair. Wonder where one should go to find that sort of clobber in 2018.....

Maybe it's just me....

I yearn after her high waisted, wide legged linen trousers...!

Ilovelearning · 03/05/2018 21:41

So do I Potterycat, but then I also yearn after a waist!

DailyFailAreTwats · 03/05/2018 22:12

Me too! Then I remember I'm currently pregnant and fat...

Yes. I saw an article that said that this show has the best wardrobe since House of Elliot, and they were right.

NotdeadyetBOING · 03/05/2018 22:47

Agree about the linen trousers - they are good too. There's a definite art to elegant dressing in the heat.....

I love her dresses, but Keeley Hawes has the type of figure that would look good in a sack and piece of string

DontCallMeCharlotte · 04/05/2018 13:50

Yes. I saw an article that said that this show has the best wardrobe since House of Elliot, and they were right.

Not quite - Outlander (Season 2 in particular) had some simply breathtaking costumes. I wanted to reach through the screen and stroke them (and they made up for the crap acting Smile).

I do love the clothes in The Durrells but I keep thinking Mrs D has an awful lot of clothes for one so poor in the 1930s...

Linen in the heat?

Only if you never sit down and have a team of wardrobe mistresses armed with steam irons.
Otherwise it only looks good for the first 10 minutes, then transforms into the bottom of the laundry basket!

SleightOfMind · 04/05/2018 13:54

I like her makeup though

Mercurial123 · 04/05/2018 14:45

I have linen wide legged trousers from J Crew they fare well in the heat. If you wear linen from head to toe it may look crumpled.

I am seriously considering getting out my sewing machine and making some of those lovely swishy skirts, it’s the only way I’m going to get a wardrobe like hers!

Timefortea99 · 04/05/2018 18:01

You are right about KH figure. I saw her on stage (in a terrible play, left at the interval, but that is by the by) and she does have an amazing figure. She was wearing a mini skirt. My legs look nothing like hers!

Dandeliontea123 · 04/05/2018 18:14

Yes, especially the lovely blouses and swishy skirts. Another one wondering how she can afford it all (maybe Lucrezia knows someone?)
I also need that weather Grin

OK, not strictly S&B, but I would love to go on this holiday course
