How to encourage waves?

My hair naturally falls somewhere between wavy and straight. It goes quite wavy when wet but dries mostly straight with just a slight wave. Is there any products I can use in it when wet to keep some of the waves?
My hair is quite thick but fine and lacking in volume so I'm wary of using mouses as I feel they'd just weigh it down. Would a sea salt spray help? I'm clueless about products for curly hair so any help would be appreciated! Smile

My hair doesn’t sound too different to yours. I have it thinned out when I have it cut and i use John Frieda air dry dream curls mousse. It’s really light and my hair dries nice and wavy. Literally no effort Smile

Try using a salt spray and scrunching

Oh and yes, don’t put Mouses in your hair! Grin

I use a fuse urban one which is good for beachy waves and smells divine.

I dry my hair then tie in one french plait while I sleep, take it out in the morning and the waves last until I wash it again!

Look at the curly girl method. The book has tips for wavy hair and products that generally work. I'd say mine us on the wavy side of curly but it's thirsty so mousse alone doesn't work, it needs curl cream and gel.

I use tigi bed head sea salt spray which gives a natural wave without the tangles and mess most other sea salt sprays give.
If I want a tighter wave or curl I use mousse when it's wet and hair spray once dry.

Thanks everyone, off to experiment! Smile
