How to find a surgeon - nose job

I’ve been offered surgery on my nose via the NHS (wonky septum). However if I go through the surgery and recovery it would be nice to get the tip refined at the same time, I’m also aware the op could change my nose shape so worry about it being worse. There’s no hump so don’t think it would require breaking like a full rhinoplasty. I doubt the NHS surgeon would do this so I’m considering doing the whole thing privately.

Where do I start when looking for a suitable surgeon? There are loads of surgeons and clinics (London), I don’t trust looking online and reviews/testimonies/photos are easily faked. Has anyone had a similar procedure? If so how was it? How did you choose the surgeon and what are the prices for initial consultations? Money isn’t an issue but I don’t want to waste it seeing the wrong surgeons, that’s why I’m tempted by the like of Transform with free consultations, even if advised to steer clear.

If it were me I would want to go to one of the top consultant ENTs with plenty of experience in this type of surgery. If you're in/ near London you could start with checking consultants who practice and the royal national ear nose and throat hospital who also have a private practice

I had mine done a long time ago (over 15 years ago). My sister had had a very large mole removed on the NHS by a plastic surgeon who also did private work. I went to see him about my nose and then had my op at the London Bridge hospital. Looking at their website he no longer seems to be working, but they are a number of surgeons on there. I'd recommend someone who practices on the NHS as well and who are GMC specialist register and has a particular specialism in rhinoplasty!

I had a rhinoplasty last year with no regrets. Have a look at RealSelf where you can find lots of surgeon recommendations and see reviews.

Lucian ion seems to be the most highly recommended I have seen in London though I am at the other end of the country his name came up constantly when I was researching surgeons. Good luck to you

Hi I had my eye bags/lids done by Lucien Ion, about 10years ago he was very good, no scarring & aftercare was very good throughly recommend.

Thanks for this. I thought ENT would be the best route as the primary issue is not cosmetic and is more important. I’ve looked at reviews online but am sceptical - some surgeons are over represented while the NHS ones tend not to have many reviews, I guess due to doing less private work and the drive for marketing. The one star reviews can be most revealing.

I might book with the more local-ish NHS private clinic for a consultation. I probably need to start researching the tip shaping I want.
