What should I pack for Istanbul?

I'm going to Istanbul at the weekend. It's an unexpected trip and I have no idea what to take.

I've googled and read all extremes from no shorts, short skirts or fitted tops to the complete opposite. I

know I need to dress 'modestly' to visit religious places but what about everyday clothes.

It's going to be 20-24 degrees and I'm too fat for most of my summer clothes. I have some nice stuff that fits but I think it's going to be too hot.

Help!

Maxi dresses
Linen trousers

Those are the only two earmarked for my holiday at the moment

I wore long sleeved cotton tunic tops and linen trousers and chinos. You will be given wraps for the religious sites.

Thank you both - I've dug out a couple of long sleeve linen shirts that I can roll the cuffs back on and I have a couple of long lightweight trousers from Hush and Gap.

I need some smart stuff to wear in the evenings but I'm going to go for a vest top with a lightweight kimono jacket over skinny trousers.

I've ordered some stuff but not sure it will arrive in time - fingers crossed.

Thanks again Grin
