My hair is dreadful, truly, truly dreadful and in need of fixing.
I would like the gorgeous hair in the picture but I'm really worried that

A) they won't give me what I ask for!
Which is usually the case when I present them with a picture....

B) it just won't look good on me.
I have insanely thick hair and I'm quite a lot larger than the beautiful lady in the image.

So hairdressers of mumsnet, do you think that style is possible/would look good on a larger lady with mega thick hair?
If not, suggestions for an alternative please??

Disclaimer: I’m not a hairdresser.

I wouldn’t say that style would be just for the slim. I’d say it would be good for thick hair. But is your hair frizzy/coarse? As it might need a fair bit of ghd-ing into shape?

Snappymcsnappy · 28/04/2018 22:47

Hm, not particularly frizzy no, just really thick!

I’m watching with interest!

That's all volumised and blowdried, will you be willing to do that yourself almost every day? The cut is one thing, the daily styling is another!

wowfudge · 28/04/2018 23:39

I have very thick hair - when I didn't have it as short as I do now a good cut meant it barely needed styling, though if I didnt dry it thoroughly the back would take hours to dry naturally. It didn't need any additional volume and rough drying then running fingers and maybe wax or serum through it was all it took.

Not really Foggymist no.
Darn it, I need something chic and sophisticated but easy care....

My hairdresser told me that for hair to look decent, ie chic and groomed it would take some effort. Unless v short most hair styles needed 10 to 15 mins to do.

I've got similar hair, and my hair is very thick and quite coarse (grey). My hairdresser thinned it and showed me how to blow dry it so it goes into shape. I wash it every three days and as long as I blow dry it properly with the right product it stays fine. Do you have a good hairdresser who could advise you?

madvixen · 29/04/2018 08:31

I have ultra thick hair and I have it thinned and cut into a blunt bob. I can't be arsed with blow drying and I want a style that I can just blast dry, straighten and go. Bobs look amazing with thick hair.
