Are wooden footbed clogs really uncomfortable?

Like Lotta from Stockholm? They look like they are but I like the look of the sandals and think they would be nice from summer. Has anyone seen any good alternatives around? Looks like Clarks have stopped doing theirs.

Thanks!

they are great if they fit well.
if they don't it's like walking on boiling gravel.

OCSockOrphanage · 28/04/2018 14:41

Mine are comfortable, but the real downside is that they are very noisy on hard floors.

EraArils · 28/04/2018 14:49

I have a pair but haven't worn them for a couple of years. I remember them being comfortable to wear all day but not for extensive walking. For example I could wear them to work then for a bit of shopping but I wouldn't wear them for sightseeing on holiday. If my feet became a little sweaty they would slip about on the wooden footbed.

They look good though. I have Swedish Hasbeens too and they are horrendously uncomfortable. Never even worn them out of the house.

FishFingerInjury · 28/04/2018 14:49

I have a couple of pairs of lotta clogs and I’ve been pleasantly surprised about the comfort. I don’t wear them for pavement pounding but they’re fine for a full day.

I find they come up big though, I wear a 38 when I’m an UK 6 in most places.

FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds · 28/04/2018 14:49

I bought some Swedish Hasbeens that looked gorgeous but my claw toes mean they were too painful to wear - my toe ends had no cushioning underneath. I had to sell them Sad

taybert · 28/04/2018 14:58

Boiling gravel you say? Sounds fine Smile
I used to have plenty of occasions I could wear not particularly comfortable shoes but I really don’t now so if I can’t wear them all day they just won’t get worn.

I’m kicking myself (thankfully with a non-clogged foot) for missing out on the Clarks ones.

Reminds me of the simple one strap Scholls my mum used to wear when we were kids. She was a whizz at running after us in them!

I tried some as she swore by them for comfort, but it was like walking with a metal pipe underfoot, and I got cramp trying to grip them on.

MadMaryBoddington · 28/04/2018 17:43

I live in my Lottas. I’ve worn them for donkeys’ years; I’m on my fourth pair. The only problem that I have is that nothing else is as comfortable so I’m spoilt for any other shoes forever!

MadMaryBoddington · 28/04/2018 17:44

I saw some in Seasalt the other day too; very tempted by the yellow suede.

NiteFlights · 28/04/2018 18:02

They are comfortable as long as you don't have to walk too far. Because they have no 'give' they can be hard on the legs. I also found they made me too conscious of my feet, a bit like walking in heels, and they are noisy. Mine were Lottas. I got a lot of compliments on them but I sold them in the end because I like walking everywhere.

RyvitaBrevis · 28/04/2018 18:39

If they're a good fit for the shape of your foot, they're really comfortable. Clogs more so than the one strap Dr Scholls. But, if they're not a good fit or even slightly too short . . . pain city.

Alienspaceship · 28/04/2018 18:43

The woman in the shop said they would massage my feet as I walked. The lying cow...

taybert · 28/04/2018 18:50

I quite like these and they migh suit my stumpy legs more than anything with an ankle strap. Dunno if they’re wood or not to be honest. The details say the sole is “other” material so that’s helpful.

OP posts:
sonjadog · 28/04/2018 19:56

They don't look like wooden soles to me.

I've been looking at clogs too, but am not sure I want to take the chance that they might be uncomfy.

taybert · 28/04/2018 20:11

Yeah, I don’t think they are. That’s ok though if it makes them less excruciating!

OP posts:
sonjadog · 28/04/2018 20:17

They may also be lighter. Wooden heels of that size I imagine would be quite heavy.

taybert · 28/04/2018 21:53

Alien sometimes massages are painful so it might not have been a lie!

Aha, just spotted this thread.

Ive been obsessively searching clogs, as an alternative to boots/trainers, this summer.

I have clog boots, but they're lined, so not too uncomfortable.
I think I want traditional wooden closed toe sandal clogs. Do any of the brands have padded foot ends? Or is the wood the point?

MockneyReject · 29/04/2018 10:18

Foot ends? Beds, dammit. Foot beds.

taybert · 29/04/2018 11:26

I think the wood might be the point. Also, good point about being heavy. Think I’m going off the idea though the real wooden ones are the nicest looking.

I keep going round and round on the idea too Taybert after seeing the Seasalt ones and someone on another thread linking to Lotta ones.
I want proper old fashioned ones like these as fancy the concept of them being wearable on wet days as well as dry. However, I would think I need to try on the Lottas in irl, based on the website sizing instructions indicating I would be a size smaller than usual.

Anyone got any feedback on the Seasalt ones?
Anyone got any suggestions about Lotta sizing - do you really need to go down a size?
TIA Smile

MadMaryBoddington · 30/04/2018 22:56

I don’t go down a size with Lottas. They fit me perfectly. I’m surprised some pps find them uncomfortable - I run around in them all day every day!

tethersend · 30/04/2018 23:06

A few clarks ones still on Ebay and on the outlet site

tethersend · 30/04/2018 23:07

These come in more sizes

taybert · 01/05/2018 07:00

Thanks tethers I saw those but none in my size.
