Are wooden footbed clogs really uncomfortable?

Like Lotta from Stockholm? They look like they are but I like the look of the sandals and think they would be nice from summer. Has anyone seen any good alternatives around? Looks like Clarks have stopped doing theirs.

Thanks!

Comfy and supportive but the wood always shreds the skin on my feet.

MockneyReject · 02/05/2018 12:27

Has anyone come across any closed toe clogs/sandals, that are not mules?
Because, as if my ridiculousky high arches don't make finding shoes difficult enough, now my toe nails keep falling off! Blush
Footwear needs to be tied on to my feet, somehow, otherwise I walk straight out of them!

Ookmybanana · 02/05/2018 12:32

I found the gave me really hard skin on my heels.

GreenHamNoeggs · 02/05/2018 12:36

Loved my Hasbeens so much I bought a second pair. Very comfortable (a priority for me) and not heavy at all. They are a bit noisy but they are so gorgeous it is totally worth it.

taybert · 02/05/2018 19:23

Some of the hasbeens look lovely. But I’m being drawn to the sky high sandals and that wasn’t the point. I want something wearable for day to day in summer which will go with day dresses and boyfriend jeans and are comfortable for all day.

I have said day too often but I can’t be bothered to change it.

Mockney - lots of closed toe options on Lotta from Stockholm.

goose1964 · 03/05/2018 11:31

I've had Scholl in the past, they were dead comfy

OdileDeCaray · 03/05/2018 11:51

Lots to choose from here

www.freepeople.com/uk/search/?q=clog

I bought two pairs recently and one pair is ok comforteise the other less so but I might try and wear them in at home a bit more. I have wider feet.

I've got the Adelaide in grey which I bought a size up and they are ok.

The other pair are the Emmy wrap in cognac. Also a size up but they are not very comfortable but might be cause they are stiff.

have worn traditional clogs for 50+ years.
was born with a slight birthdefect after it was corrected with braces, grandmother bought me a pair to strengthen feet and legs.
i have very healthy feet.and well defined storng legs.
i wear them all the time, yard work runs to stores etc.the only drawback is if they get wet inside they do get slippery and can be hard on you if they dont fit properly.
easy on easy off, if you dont allow shoes in the house.can wash them off with the garden hose.and the dog can't eat them..
faux ones are often shaped wrong.
to a previous poster-they do make a "brogue" a full fit slip on shoe.i have a pair i am breaking in now.not sure if i like them as much as the
old school "blacksmith" style.
i also found the fancy ones with higher heels are uncomfortable.
do not like the sandles tho

taybert · 03/05/2018 12:23

Thinking about it, I did have some scholl’s when I was at 6th form. They had a weird resurgence back then, I bought them from schuh. I don’t remember them being uncomfortable but it was quite a long time ago.
I think maybe I just have to try some of the lotta sandals. I like that the strap is quite low on the ankle.

I always heard the most comfy clogs are Dansko. They're the ones you wear in hospital theatres and are hideous BUT the brand do other styles and some are pretty nice, whilst still being really comfy. You can get them here on Amazon.

My hospital is cracking down on trainers or any fabric shoe and I'm seriously thinking about buying some Danskos.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 03/05/2018 14:24

I have a pair of these (in red) in the back of my wardrobe (bought from Boden a good few years ago). Do you think they'd look ok?

taybert · 03/05/2018 16:18

Hmm, not sure Martin They’re nice shoes but not cloggy enough for what I’ve got in my head.

The Lotta’s I like are out of stock. So obviously now they are exactly perfect and definitely what I want/need.

OP posts:
MadMaryBoddington · 03/05/2018 16:36

Ah yes this happens with Lottas. They seem to only buy in limited stock, so when they’re gone they’re gone. I made the schoolboy error of waiting for the sale for some clog boots I really wanted - never again!; now if I see some I want I buy them straight away. Lesson learned!

taybert · 03/05/2018 16:41

I emailed and they said they should be getting some more in 2-3 weeks so I’ve set up an email alert and will get them if they come back in to stock. Unless I’ve seen something else in the meantime. I like the ones with the dark wood base and thought I’d go for some sort of tan for versatility.

OP posts:
MadMaryBoddington · 03/05/2018 16:45

I like the dark wood bases too - very classy!

mimiasovitch · 03/05/2018 17:05

@MockneyReject I have the Eva clogs from ten points (from Lotta) and they are closed toe, with a soft foot bed and are very comfortable.

ladyratterley · 03/05/2018 17:21

I've just bought a pair of Bettys in nude from here. They've not arrived yet but I'm looking forward to trying them.
moheda.co.uk
Mohedas are a brand they sell on Lottas but this is their direct website. They're a bit cheaper than buying from Lotta's even with £10 for delivery.
Thought I'd share the link in case anyone else is interested. They have a lot on sale.
A college of mine bought a rather expensive pair of Swedish Hasbeens and they ripped her feet to shreds and she couldn't wear them. I thought the Mohedas were worth a try for the price!

thefirstmrsdewinter · 03/05/2018 17:49

I've acquired a bunch of Sven clogs (peep-toe slingbacks, peep-toe backless clogs, metallic flats, nubuck sandals and a pair of sheepskin boots) because they're so cute and the sales were good. I love the boots and get loads of wear out of them every winter. I don't get on so well with the shoes though.

I find the rigid soles shorten my stride and depending on the finish of the leather they can be rough on the skin. Because the sole is rigid and square-edged, I never feel very far from an ankle-twist.

What I didn't expect is that I find them hard to style. They're very casual but all have some height (even the flattest ones are a flatform shape) so they look too dressy for shorts and jeans. I thought they'd be great for dressing down but they just seem to make everything look wrong and sort of matronly.

I'm prepared to accept that it's just me because I still covet clogs I see on others and online, it's like a sickness. Smile

taybert · 03/05/2018 18:31

Don’t say that mrsdewinter. Fashion bloggers have told me they go with everything!

OP posts:
thefirstmrsdewinter · 03/05/2018 19:22

I know I know - with everything! Gutted.

I must have some sort of personal failing. When I wear them it reminds me of when John Major wore a dress shirt and loafers to recreate with George Bush, like the best he could do was to look tidy.

In my defence I am quite elderly (50), which probably ruins everything. Sad

taybert · 03/05/2018 20:15

50 is not elderly. I’m a GP in an area with a high elderly population. You’ve got to be over 90 before I’ll blame your age for anything!

Someone complimented my shoes at work the other day and I went on about how I wasn’t sure about them and they looked nicer on the model etc etc and she just said “you look lovely, stop over thinking it” so maybe you need someone to say that about you in your clogs!

OP posts:
Rathkelter · 03/05/2018 21:00

Horrendous. Nice looking but had to send them back. I tried them round the house for a few days and couldn't see myself getting 5 metres in them without my skin shredding.

Rathkelter · 03/05/2018 21:06

Mine were Hasbeens, for the record.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 03/05/2018 21:57

So so painful
Had to return sadly
