Cap or foil highlights?

Which type of highlights are better?
I have decided to have my greying hair highlighted. My natural colour is brown 6 on a colour chart.
The hairdresser suggested either a cap and highlight tint or foils with two colours.I would like my hair to be golden brown, slightly lighter in colour and to blend in the grey's.
I am sensitive to some box dyes( my eyes run and scalp itches)so would rather the dye was not touching my scalp.
When having foils or a cap does the dye sometimes touch your scalp?
I had a sensitivity test done yesterday.
What do you think would be best for me?The hairdresser said either would be ok.
What happens with root upkeep if I have a cap?
Thanks

Same as you and I do the two colour foils. Never had a problem with sensitivity although as I’m aging I notice my scalp is dryer. I love the way the two colours blend in with the grey.

I haven't seen a cap used for highlights in years.

I have a cap as my hair is too short for foils, although I have grown it slightly so might have foils next time but I also dont want any product to touch my scalp

I'd go for foils, the colourist will have more control over where the dye sits than with a cap

Foils is nicer

I had a reaction to the sensitivity test last night. My eyes started watering at about 8 then one swelled up at 1:30 waking me up.
I washed the dye off then took an antihistamine.
I am leaving my hair colour as it is for now.
Thanks for the advice.
