Superga sizing help needed!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/04/2018 23:11

I've ordered a pair of Superga trainers after reading positive recommendations on here. I wasn't sure about sizing - I'm usually a Size 8 but sometimes a 7.5 if the cut is quite generous. So I ordered 7.5 hoping they wouldn't be too small.

They arrived today and they are massive! I actually had to double check they hadn't sent me the wrong size. They say 41.5 inside, which Superga says is a 7.5. Thee is no way I can wear them - even laced tightly I'll walk straight out of them.

I could order the next size down (7/41) but it feels like the 7.5 are more than a half size too big. I really like the style so want yo get the right size.

So, is anyone familiar with Superga sizing? Shoot I order a 7/ 41 or go down to a 6.5/40? I don't really want to be back and forth to the post office having several attempts to get the right size.

I ordered a 4.5 and they were a bit big but I bought some insoles and they did the trick.

I’m a 5 in pretty much everything normally.

Have you a big John Lewis near you? Or an Office or Debenhams? They all stock Supergas so it might be worth popping in to try some on. Bit of hassle but better than endless back and forth to the post office.

If they're that odd a fit on you then try a shop definitely. They sell them in Schuh too. Mine are a size 5 and fit perfectly though.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/04/2018 23:35

Thanks. I might have to go to a real shop but we're away for the next two weekends so couldn't get to a shop for at least 3 weeks. I was hoping to have them.before them which is why I ordered online.

Buy several pairs from Schuh - they do free returns and next day delivery plus you have 365 days to return.

Also do this through topcashback Grin

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 25/04/2018 23:38

Ahh I thought Schuch might’ve stocked them too.

If I had to hedge my bets I’d take 7.5 to be your ‘true’ size in Superga terms and size down by a whole size so 6.5.

Odiepants · 26/04/2018 07:03

I'd say it depends on how wide your feet are as they are wide shoes.

I'm a 6.5 or 40 in pretty much everything with wide feet and I wear either the 39.5 or 40 in Supergras. The 39 is too tight on my toes.

I would try the 40.5 (if it's available) or 41. But going on trying on in a shop would be the best bet.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 26/04/2018 07:28

My feet are average width for their length but these trainers are both too long and too wide.
I'm a standard 7. 5 or 8 in every other shoe shop. My Nike trainers are all 8, my Clarks work shoes are either 8 or 7.5. The Superga aren't just a bit big, they are miles out.

I haven't had a size 6 shoe since I was 10 but am now wondering about ordering the 6.5/ 40 which they do on their website.

I would go.into a shop on my next free weekend if I could guarantee they had the sizes in the colour I want. But that's a long shot. I've never ordered several sizes of shoe online to find the right size but that might be the way forward, if they do free returns! I'm definitely going to return these ones anyway.

I usually wear a size 6/39. I recently purchased ones that the shop website said size 5.5. There were no 6 so I checked the Superga website and they list a 5.5 as a 39. They are a bit wide fitting (but I've a fairly narrow foot) but other than that the size is fine. Certainly wearable for me.

blossomy · 26/04/2018 07:32

They are a men’s fit despite being “unisex”!

crumpet · 26/04/2018 07:32

I size down a whole size in Superga

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 26/04/2018 07:52

I’m a 5 (or a 4 in Dune heels as they are always massive) and my size 5 supergas fit perfectly. They are quite a wide fit so definitely need tied relatively tightly (definitely tighter than my converse) but they fit fine.

If it’s worth checking out - I bought mine from Amazon and got them on prime so you could potentially get them before you go and then just return whatever you don’t need either before you go or once you get back

TheLastNigel · 26/04/2018 08:01

I've been wearing Superga for about 8 years. I have always gone down a half size from my usual 6, and that's done the trick. Until the last pair I had which I found too small, so returned and got my regular size which have been fine. (Maybe my feet have somehow grown!)

Ellapaella · 26/04/2018 14:56

I have wide feet. I'm a 7 in Nike and wear 6.5 in superga. The 7 were humongous and the 6.5 are just right but fitting very snug, not much give.

fishonabicycle · 26/04/2018 15:23

My superga plimsolls are huge - I think I went a full size down.

LoveInTokyo · 26/04/2018 20:57

Can’t you order both sizes and send back whichever size doesn’t fit?

I agree they come up large. I usually wear a 40 or a 41 and found with Superga that 41 is way too big and even 40 is a bit roomy. Thinking of trying a 39.

KatyS36 · 26/04/2018 21:21

You are me! I'm normally a seven. Ordered a 7 which they size at 41 I think and they were huge! Went down a full size to a 6, suddenly too small. Had to order the 6.5.

I think part of the problem is they translate UK sizes to continental differently to many other shops.

Katy

EmmaGrundyForPM · 26/04/2018 23:12

I ordered direct from Superga and they don't do free returns Sad

I'm returning the massive ones and will wait until I can get to a shop to find out my true Superga size. But that might be several weeks.

TheScottishPlay · 26/04/2018 23:28

I wear 39 (5.5) in Superga. I'm usually a 6 in other footwear.

Franklyyes · 26/04/2018 23:35

Go by the European sizes rather than English ones - I'm the same as Odiepants

blossomy · 27/04/2018 01:13

A 6 is a 39 though.

PavlovaPrincess · 27/04/2018 07:07

I'm a size 7 and have loads of Superga. I wear a size 7 but lace them up quite tightly which works for me. I've tried going down half a size but they rub.

They do shrink when you wash them btw (not advocating washing them to fit just for future reference).

LoveInTokyo · 27/04/2018 07:58

Try ordering them from Amazon for free returns.

AWholeLottaRosie · 27/04/2018 08:43

Next sell them if that's any easier for delivery/ collection from store/ returns?

museumum · 27/04/2018 08:46

I’m in a 36 superga which is my size in dress/formal shoes. I’m almost always a 37 in sports trainers and in converse and vans.

LibertyBlue · 27/04/2018 08:47

That’s weird... I’m an 8 but in Clark’s and other generous sized shoes (like M&S foot glove) I’m a 7.5. Have regular width feet.

I take an 8 in Superga. Have had two pairs of trainers from them and definitely an 8.
