What do you wear to a murder mystery event?

We’re going to one at a fairly nice hotel. They said to wear smart evening wear. I had decided on a dress but I’ve accepted today that it just doesn’t suit me. Too much fabric in the upper body area drowns me and makes me look frumpy. I want to be comfortable so preferably something stretchy. I’ve just bought this www.boohoo.com/skye-sweetheart-off-shoulder-bodycon-dress/DZZ94561.html?color=105 as a cheap and easy alternative, but no idea whether it’s the right sort of thing. I thought it looked simple enough that it shouldn’t be too much or too little. I may end up sending it back anyway if the fabric is too thin and quality too poor. I know some people dress up in ‘themed’ outfits but I’m not into that. Would I look out of place in that dress?

Its perfect- you need a smart evening dress and that fits the bill well.

Didn’t know if it was that smart, really. The previous dress was much more what I would consider smart but didn’t work. I’m hoping it will be a few inches longer on me than the model.
