Shorts.. not hot pants!

Please help me find some nice stylish shorts.. that aren't hot pants! I'm in my late 20's and I'm struggled to find a fashionable pair that don't look like something out of my mums wardrobe. But also don't show by bum cheeks!

I don't know how many of them look like something out of your mum's wardrobe but Dorothy Perkins always do a good selection of longer shorts.

I'm a bit (a lot) older than you, but I like 5" shorts as a length, 3" is way too short. J crew do them in a tonne of colours: https://www.jcrew.com/uk/p/womenscategory/shorts/solid/5-stretch-chino-short/H5807?colorr_name=frosty-olive, but not in the least bit cheap (they'll last forever though). Also worth looking on eBay, or asking someone to get them for you if they're heading to the US.

I think Boden do something very similar, but I've not tried them so can't say either way.

Avoid Topshop if you don’t want hot pants.

Matalan do some nice shorts. The material ones (non-denim) are usually a good length, i.e. half your bum isn’t hanging out.

And Primark shorts can be good but I would definitely suggest trying them on before buying.

Have a look on Boden, they do several styles that come in different leg lengths. Quite £££ but 25% off at the moment, I like the Rachel chino ones

Next, Matalan, DP all have them in.
M&S don't look too long or short as well.

I second JCrew. I’ve also just bought a couple of pairs from Anthropologie which are a flattering length. They have a good selection of interesting designs at the mo.

FatFace do chino shorts very similar to those JCrew ones but a bit cheaper.
