Help! I have a huge arse and live in Saudi Arabia

And it's bloody hot here!
My job (Nanny) makes skirts and dresses quite difficult, but besides from specific Levi jeans, I look ridiculous in trousers.

I'd love to float around in the baggy hippy pants that the Skinny Minnies pull off but it highlights my ginormous arse.

I'm slim, with a distinct hourglass figure but have a "kardashian bum" which I can't get rid of, and means most trousers are too low at the back.

Any suggestions for a loose, cool style of bottoms that won't make me look ridiculous?

harem pants?

Alienspaceship · 22/04/2018 18:55

No helpful suggestions but the title of your thread is brilliant Grin

Battleax · 22/04/2018 18:55

That is the best thread title on Mumsnet so far this year 🙂

You need tailored waists.

ggirl · 22/04/2018 18:58

masai
have elastic waist and enough room for your kardashian arse and expensive but you're earning a fortune living there Wink

hangry24seven · 22/04/2018 19:05

Leggings and tunics.

BalloonFlowers · 22/04/2018 19:19

What dress code do you actually need to meet?
I live in linen trousers and teeshirts. Most people live in shorts or summer cotton dresses.
Abaya to leave the house.
Have you done a Saudi summer yet? We are still on spring temperatures. It's still in the 30s.youve got 15, if not 20C rises in temperatures to come.....
I'd go for form over fashion. If skirts and dresses are out, you are on loose cotton or linen trousers. Now, can you actually find some here???

BalloonFlowers · 22/04/2018 19:21

Oh, or, take an old pair of Levis to a tailor, and get them to make you that style in a lighter fabric???

Doobigetta · 22/04/2018 19:27

Definitely best thread title ever Grin

UnsuspectedItem · 22/04/2018 19:37

Harem pants are not friends of the Larger Bottomed, sadly.

I wear an abaya out of the house, it's more on the estate that I need to dress for.

I need to look smart, so leggings are out (and too tight and warm anyway).

Linen, Cotton etc are my fabrics of choice but I've no idea what shape to go for.

As PP said up thread, it's "only" 34C so I'm still in jeans and a shirt most days but I can't get away with that for long...

Glad my title tickled some of you!

BalloonFlowers is that an expensive option here? And I wear the super skinny demi curve Levis, not sure if they'd work in another fabric?

tortelliniforever · 22/04/2018 19:39

Loose fitting trousers but with a longer line tunic over the top?

BalloonFlowers · 22/04/2018 19:45

Ok, so I stand by my find a tailor to copy your Levi's in a summer weight fabric.
Or can you find a pair of wide legged trousers that are so wide they look like your preferred skirts, but gave a bit more decency when sat on the floor?
As I say, I live in Next or M&S wideish linen trousers (parallel leg, I think last summer's purchase was).
Good luck shopping!

Rudgie47 · 22/04/2018 19:46

Just wear that big black robe thats popular over there and it wont matter how big your bum in because that will cover absoluley everything.

BalloonFlowers · 22/04/2018 19:46

No, not expensive, but you need to know where to go.
Indian or Pakistani areas are usually good starting points.

DairyisClosed · 22/04/2018 19:50

I would opt for high waisted wide leg linen trousers.

LynetteScavo · 22/04/2018 20:17

I would say wide legged linen mix trousers, and a long floaty or top or linen shirt so you bum/hips are covered.

When you find the right combination but them in several colours.

LynetteScavo · 22/04/2018 20:20

Have a look at uniqlo

EnidSingsTheBlues · 22/04/2018 22:33

Just came on to say I love your thread title. No advice but hope you're successful with your trouser quest.Smile

minipie · 22/04/2018 22:44

Yes wide leg linen trousers. I have your figure (slim, large bum) and have some from fat face that work, a little big in the waist but not terrible. Also have some chinos from Joules that fit.

Or, could you wear skirts and dresses if you wore substantial underwear underneath (shorts style)? Since you wear an abaya out anyway?

minipie · 22/04/2018 22:45

Or "skorts" ie shorts that look like a skirt, but they are hard to find.

A1Sharon · 22/04/2018 22:48

Could you wear a light maxi skirt?

winterisstillcoming · 22/04/2018 22:55

Ok, so this may be a bit far out, but in India, they wear cotton suits with wide baggy trousers and a tunic top. Google shalwar kameez

www.google.co.uk/search?tbm=isch&q=salwar%20kameez%20pain%20white&ved=2ahUKEwi4mYiJ787aAhWPh6QKHSWBC7AQ2-cCegQIABAB&hl=en-gb&client=safari#!H3!/search?tbm=isch&q=salwar%20kameez%20pain%20white&hl=en-gb&client=safari&ved=2ahUKEwiA3LGb787aAhWGG-wKHf3oDlAQMygMegUIABCxAQ&imgrc=9vIBxEaZNpyGMM&uact=26

You should be able to get some made to measure quite easily in Saudi.

My mum is from Kenya and she still wears their cotton style dresses around the house too, which may be an option for lounging.

Ohyesiam · 22/04/2018 23:01

Sharwa kameez. They work
In your climate and cover a multitude.

DuchyDuke · 22/04/2018 23:53

Go to an Indian area and get something called a kurti top, lots of different styles and lengths and can be made to measure too, and then wear them on top of jeans and tops. Has to be an Indian area though as Pakistani kurtas tend to be long sleeved and heavy.
