Foundation help please....

I am having a bit of a foundation crisis and would appreciate some advice.

I've only been wearing foundation for a couple of years and I am pretty clueless Confused

I'm 41 and have classic pale rosy skin. Blush easily, burn easily, some rosacea. I'd say my skin is probably combination - can be a little dry round the nose, but prone to shinyness in the Tzone.

So, I started wearing Colour Me Beautiful foundation in Porcelain with a green colour corrector mixed in. I liked this but I couldn't really justify the price at £20 a tube...

So, I read some reviews and switched to Rimmel Wake-Me Up in Light Porcelain. Although I was initially happy with the results, I have noticed my pores a lot more using this foundation. Plus, I can 'see' this foundation a lot more - it seems to just sit on my skin IYSWIM.

I mouisturise first using La Roche Posay Rosaliac Legere then apply green stuff/foundation. I've tried a Dermalogica Primer sample, but it didn’t seem to make much difference. I've also tried both sponge and fingers in case that made a difference.

I really am a bit clueless about makeup - do I just need a different foundation? Any recommendations for early 40s, rosy pale, combination skin? TIA Smile

Oh, and I put on Bare Minerals mineral foundation in light on the top just to take the sheen away (and to use it up because it's in my make up bag) Blush Maybe that's the problem...

I would maybe try a different foundation, in currently having the same issues im24 and have worn double wear for probably 5/6 years, always loved it coverage is amazing not oily or shiny, I have pale combination skin often have breakouts and have some acne scarring but recently it is just not sitting right at all and I don't know why... I think most beauty counters do samples so you can try them at home on your face and see what's best, maybe ask around when you're next shopping?

I prefer 3 in one products which are basically powder foundation - like a pressed powder but with more coverage.

I love Revlon photo ready powder.

Its a shame with all these products you pretty much have to guess (if you're like me and don't like touching the testers) - you can't exactly try it before buying it :/

Thanks. Is Revlon Photo Ready powder for putting on after foundation?

Also, I washed my make-up brush this morning. That was a disgusting affair Shock

I don't think the sunny weather helps - such a harsh light makes my face look Shock Reminds me why I love autumn and winter!

Have you tried the Rimmel one with the blue lid? Match colour or something or other. It gets good reviews and it hasn't got the glitter that Wake Me Up has.

I’ve been using Bourjois healthy mix and have been impressed, was a Mac user, but it hadn’t covered my redness completely but going to try this next as ... www.boots.com/bourjois-123-perfect-foundation-10137934

I use rimmel one with blue lid and I have pale skin dry/oily whatever it wants to be Day to day lol and it's a good foundation not too expensive either x

henhausfrau · 21/04/2018 22:12

Ooh right, might try the blue lid Rimmel. Can't say I've noticed any glittery effects though Confused Perhaps it has a sheen that isn't suiting my skin?

I'll look at the Bourjois one too. Thank you Smile

I had Wake Ne Up and it is slightly shimmery and a bit drying. It's not glittery glittery but has a slight shimmer.

Estee Lauder Maximum cover camouflage makeup. Has covered my rosacea for many years now! You only need a little, moisturiser and primer first, then blend well. No need for green anything, it just does the job.

I put on my foundation yesterday and a nice creamy concealer on top. T'was a disaster in the heat! Did not realise until I sneaked a look in a mirror in Boots. Aaaargh! my face had melted!

Much prefer a sunny autumn or winter day!! I've reverted back to my CMB foundation for now by cutting the tube open...
