Will we all be wearing long dresses and skinny jeans this summer?

Or is just M&S losing it as per usual?

I can only hope for the models sake it was photoshopped, I can't look at it without wincing Grin

Grobagsforever · 19/04/2018 21:57

Ha ha ha! Oh that's special!!!

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 19/04/2018 22:00

Oh God yy that 'Oh Polly' ad is more for the Paul Hollywood type than the average MNer.

Justmuddlingalong · 19/04/2018 22:03

No wonder the model looks miserable. I doubt she'll be adding that picture to her portfolio.

DaphneFanshaw · 19/04/2018 22:05

Bloody hell!!! I remember this fad.

I remember my Mum telling me that she felt old when she saw a fad come back round.
I’ve seen the 80s trend 3 or maybe even 4 times now.

DaphneFanshaw · 19/04/2018 22:05

I have to admit I quite like it with a shorter dress.

Atalune · 19/04/2018 22:07

Too many adjectives in that dress- it’s all wrong-

midi, asymmetrical, floral

Yikes! 😬

DaphneFanshaw · 19/04/2018 22:19

You’re right Atalune, it is a bit busy.

Cheekyandfreaky · 19/04/2018 22:21

It is modest fashion inspired I reckon. I can see it taking off with some teens I know.

Moreisnnogedag · 19/04/2018 22:26

@WinkyisbackontheButterBeer what thread were you on?! What's going to lead to toileting?

Chocolate1984 · 19/04/2018 22:27

I'm reasonably sure we wore stuff like that 20 years ago. I seem to remember wearing lovely summer dresses with thick dark leggings or trousers & possibly boots.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 19/04/2018 22:42

Moreisnnogedag I don’t know. Sorry

HoneyDragon · 19/04/2018 22:43

I’m fine with the dresses over trousers thing. But previous incantations have meant that said trousers and dress are compatible.

If M&S are saying this is a thing than I’m frightened Shock

Cheeky My thoughts too

AdoraBell · 19/04/2018 23:49

that is awesome 🤣

nancy75 · 19/04/2018 23:51

What’s actually happened in this photo is they have given her the frock to model, she said fuck it I’m not wearing that thing and has started to get dressed in her own jeans and ready to leave. They’ve had to take the photo ASAP and are now pretending the dress/jeans combo was on purpose

Eatmycheese · 19/04/2018 23:52

I’m amazed nobody has come forth and expressed horror at the shoes

boatyardblues · 19/04/2018 23:53

This is a trend I think I can work with, although the M&S outfit in the OP is minging.

DaphneFanshaw · 20/04/2018 06:22

Grin I hadn't noticed the shoes, how the bloody hell do you walk in those. They would fly off my feet.

CanIBuffalo · 20/04/2018 06:31

Looks like some weird Holly Hobbie/Bananarama mashup gone terribly wrong.

GibbousMoon · 20/04/2018 06:39

I think M&S try to attract a younger buyer and come up with this stuff to appear 'edgy'Hmm

YouStacey · 20/04/2018 06:50

It's all part of the modesty dressing trend innit?

The80sweregreat · 20/04/2018 06:55

Finding a decent dress size 18 with boobs is so hard for me. that combo looks awful too. I hate summer clothes, love jumpers and jeans. much more comfy and practical.

YouStacey · 20/04/2018 06:56

I liked the look about 25 years ago for full floral dresses and DMs, not keen on the jeans under dresses thing though.

PoorYorick · 20/04/2018 07:05

With a shorter dress and darker jeans, both the right cut, it really looks fine. Like a tunic top. It's a Western version of the shalwar kameez.

You do need to get the combination right though.
