Something like converse- but cushioned

Just wondering if the collective brains could help me out please? I used to wear converse type shoes all the time, but due to a recent hip problem I've been wearing wedges as I believed these helped. However the consultant i saw today suggested that actually it might be fine to wear something that is flat, but that is cushioned , unlike converse. I don't want to resort to classic trainers that you would use for exercise, does anybody know of any converse type shoes that have got lots of cushioning?

Skechers?

NoTNoShade · 18/04/2018 14:00

Some Ecco shoes are good but it’s a fine line. Some are monstrous so you have to be careful. They are ridiculously comfortable.

If your shoes are comfy then maybe invest in a cushioned sole for your shoes - I add an extra cushioned sole to my trainers as I'm pregnant and it does help.

Ecco trainers, Sketchers and I find Tesco own brand trainers work well for me (I'm size 10).

Imho trainers to avoid are Nike/Addidas etc as I find them cheaply made and poor quality.

Ecco?

pigpoglet · 18/04/2018 14:02

Converse one star are much more cushioned than traditional converse .

You could try some cotton trainers with a flat form sole. They tend to be slightly cushioned, and look nice imo

Cracklesfire · 18/04/2018 14:04

I find Vans much more comfortable than my Converse but not sure if they’d be cushioned enough. You could also try cushioned insoles or a wedge inside your normal trainers?

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 18/04/2018 14:07

I also thought Vans. Any skater style shoe should be pretty cushioned, as it's part of their design. I used to wear DCs and it was like walking on a mattress Grin

HyenaHappy · 18/04/2018 14:10

Vans or New Balance?

Some New Balance are running shoes but others (like the ones I’m wearing right now) aren’t. They are suede and in nice colours.

PF flyers were designed to improve posture, and are amazingly comfortable.

AFingerofFudge · 18/04/2018 14:34

Thanks for all the suggestions, I shall have a look. I had no idea there was so much out there, having been a strictly classic Converse type. But you're right NoT there's definitely a fine line with those Ecco styles, and most have crossed over Grin

I have some suede Nike Air Force 1s, they are the comfiest trainer I've ever had. They are really cushioned all around and feel like walking on air.

I've just bought some vans and as well as the blisters whilst wearing them in, they are also uncomfortable to walk in. I still love them though,

Marmaladeorange · 18/04/2018 14:38

Reebok Club C 85s are much more comfortable/padded than converse and have a thicker sole. Mine have been more durable too, and they are waterproof.

Titsywoo · 18/04/2018 14:41

Skechers go walk are cushioned and are very comfortable

brogueish · 18/04/2018 15:37

Vans or Nike Airs ime.

Never found a pair of Adidas or Converse that were actually comfortable for walking.

slug · 18/04/2018 16:07

I wear gel insoles in my converse

goose1964 · 18/04/2018 20:57

Timberland have some with a very cushioned inner.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 18/04/2018 21:16

My Puma platforms are co comfy and cushioned but you do need to size up.

PopGoesTheWeaz · 18/04/2018 21:28

Superga. So much more comfortable than converse

Spandang · 18/04/2018 21:34

I have plantar fasciitus and really struggled with my supergas because there’s no arch support at all but I’ve found the Adidas cloudfoams really comfy - if you have a look at the ones labelled ‘daily’ they might work?

Chicinwellies · 18/04/2018 22:32

Candice Cooper are amazing. And leather trims rather than rubber or plastic

Shadow1986 · 18/04/2018 22:34

I love my superga trainers. So comfy

Tanaqui · 19/04/2018 08:39

Fitflop trainers?

NatalieRushman · 19/04/2018 09:28

Some 'fashion' trainers? I wear a lot of Nike Theas for casual wear. They're slim and don't look like athletic trainers at all. And they're extremely comy.
