How to sort out my dark knees!

Hi all, slightly embarrassing one but I hate getting my legs out in summer because my knees are so dark compared to the rest of my legs! I thought it was just dry skin combined with dye from wearing dark jeans, but exfoliation doesn't seem to take it away, it helps a bit though. Has anyone got any tips for dealing with this? I'm pretty pale otherwise and it's really obvious!

I'd love to know too, I always look like I've been on my knees.... Hmm

Sigh, me too Sad Every year I look at my dark knees with dismay - I've tried lightening cream to no avail. Find a bit of a tan helps as they're less obvious than they are against my just out of winter milk bottle legs. Have to be v careful with fake tan to moisturise the dark patch first!

Nothing helpful to add except for the fact that my knees, together with the rest of my legs, are so blindingly pale that I can barely look at them.

We're never happy are we?!

Rub half lemons on them & moisturise with a layer of oil and then moisturiser on top.

I've been moisturising my legs with Vitamin E oil over the winter and I wonder if this is why my knees aren't as dark as they were last year.

Pity I haven't paid as much attention to my elbows! They stand out as being dark and they feel rough.

I have this, and it bothers me for a couple of days every summer, until I realise lots of people have it. It's like elbows.
I'm not aware if people notice me staring at their joints

BigStripeyBastard · 18/04/2018 12:49

I'm sorry, I know it's rubbish to have a body part you really don't like for whatever reasons but I am giggling a bit at the thought of lots of people hunched in bathrooms, frantically rubbing lemons on their knees...... 😁
My elbows are the same, about four shades darker than the rest of me. Luckily, I am completely sunlight avoidant so it's rare they make a public appearance. My knees get even less exposure.

Is it literally just darker pigmented ski, or is it dark because it's dry? Lots of moisturizing should help that?

Cloud10 · 18/04/2018 19:31

Thanks everyone! Glad to know it's not just me, I never notice it on other people but I'm really paranoid about it! I think it's dry skin rather than extra pigment but who knows. Trouble is I'm really tall so lots of stuff is above my knees, arghh. Oh well, I will try to make the most of the lovely weather and not think about it!
