Have measure myself and bought a bra that's the guide size they gave (was wearing a 38C, B+B gave me 36G)
I've tried it on and it's horrifically tight around the back. The cup is the best fit I've ever found.
If I want to go up a back size, do I come down a cup size? I remember reading that and increase in back size increases cup volume so if I just went to 38G then i believe the cup will be too large.
If I went up a back size and down a cup size would that be 38F or 38FF?
I'm new to all of this so any help/advice wpuld be really appreciated

Yes, if you want to go up a back size from 36G but keep the same cup size then you should get a 38FF. Before you do, do try the 36G on backwards to double-check whether it really is too tight (backwards so that the cups/boobs don’t interfere with the band fitting). It should be fairly tight (will probably leave slight marks in the same way socks do) but not painfully so!

KirstenRaymonde · 18/04/2018 11:00

Can you do it up and breathe, and are you wearing it on the smallest hook? If so it probably is the right size and you’re just not used to how firm a properly fitting band is. It will loosen up with wear, like shoes.

LelliNelli · 18/04/2018 11:07

It's on the loosest hook and was a massive struggle to get on. I only did it up because I wanted to check the cup fit.
When the bra was on back to front I had a lot of fat coming out under and when I'd turned it round (so it was the right way) I scooped like it says on the website but still has two fat pads at the back and between my shoulder blades looked like two extra breasts.
Do you think it's work wearing it round the house and seeing if it loosens or should I try another size?

Try the same size in a different make/style. I find my usual size in M&S and one or two other brands far too tight.

thedevilinablackdress · 18/04/2018 11:23

And also try the larger band/smaller cup for comparison

bluebiro · 18/04/2018 11:38

Sounds like it would be worth trying a few different sizes around 36G - it might be that a bigger cup is needed instead of a bigger band (or as well as). If the cup isn't quite big enough then not all of the breast can sit in the cup and this pushes flesh back around the sides and can cause the "back fat" issue. Different brands/styles can vary slightly in their sizing as well of course, just to make it extra challenging!

thedevilinablackdress · 18/04/2018 12:29

Also, I put a new bra on today in a size and style I already had and it did feel quite tight for a few minutes but now fine.

LelliNelli · 20/04/2018 12:12

So I tried the 36G bra on with an extender and it's the best fitting bra I've ever had.
I ordered a 38FF and I've tried it on and the cups are so baggy but it fits perfectly around the back.
Why is this so confusing? Bet if men had tits it wouldn't be this difficult!

Is the 38FF the same bra as the 36G? If they're the same then the cup size should be identical so I don't know why it's not! If they're different bras, then sometimes sizes vary a bit between makes/styles/even colours. But if the 36G with an extender fits perfectly then go with that!

LelliNelli · 23/04/2018 16:45

bluebiro no they're different styles. I knew there would be a difference between different makes but wasn't expecting so much.

Any ideas what size I should be trying next?

Order the smaller one in the same style.

I found somewhere, but I can't remember where which recommends that you choose your bra shape by how your nilles lie. I can only remember that pointing straight ahead was plunge or balconette

LelliNelli · 25/04/2018 20:37

goose boobs or bust has something like that. I have cleavage for the first time ever!
